I unfortunately just had a conversation with a “trainer” who, after being clear on “is this a best bang for your buck exercise for your chest” thinks that standing D/B front delt raises are great for chest development. His argument was that because his hands are supinated and he can feel His chest working that it is a great movement for the chest. I strongly disagreed, stated that it was a front delt raise and you feel your chest because you’re flexing your chest/worked your chest previous, however it is NOT a “most bang for your buck exercise” for chest. He then claimed that I don’t understand biomechanics… 😂 I guess training with Poliquin for all all of those courses was a waste of time and money… 😂 Nobody wants to focus on mastering the basic fundamental movements anymore. They all want to do the insta cool garbage movements and claim it’s the best exercise on the planet…

Great content as usual! If arms are an extreme weak point compared with everything else and one wants to grow arms as much as possible, would it be optimal to train only arms, or would that negativity impact them hormones?
@lacticaddictluke
@lacticaddictluke 3 жыл бұрын
Arm training isn’t very systemically fatiguing so it is likely that you could do a specialisation for them while still training everything else. I would suggest allocating more volume to them, which would mean putting other body parts at MEV or maintenance to move arms uptowards MRV

What is your opinion about reverse grip bench press for the upper chest? Is it really that underrated as some studies shows it to be? (Meaning very much upper chest activation, comparable or may even better than standard incline press)

why do you have a band on the smith machine while doing incline chest?
@dualShockRK98
@dualShockRK98 3 жыл бұрын
To accommodate the resistance. Long story short as you press the weight up you are able to lift more weight. It is what is called an ascending strength profile, Joe has great videos explaining all of this in his app at the HypertrophyCoach University section. Essentially what the band is doing is as Joe lowers the weight the band because it is getting stretched its trying to pull the weight on the oppsoite direction. So lets assume Joe is lifting 100 kg at the top when his arms are straight, the moment that he lowers the weight the band gets stretched, let assume that the band has 20kg resistance. Meaning at the bottom Joe is actually lifting 80kg ( 100 - 20 ) and as he presses up the band starts getting looser and looser until its completely loose. Since it is getting looser during all the way, meaning the weight is getting heavier as Joe also is getting stronger ( stronger as in he has a mechanical advantage as the joints stack over each other). Hence the name ASCENDING Strength Profile. Hopefully I was clear cuz its difficult explaining this stuff without pictures
@KenanTurkiye
@KenanTurkiye 3 жыл бұрын
To help out at the bottom. That is when the bar is close to the chest its sometimes very hard to get the momentum to push out, so the band helps out there and as the band is shortened the ''help'' from the band is reduced allowing the user to use more of their own force.

@PogChamp That video is more than 2 years old, think he has another one as a favourite right now. If I remember correctly its the nautilus xpload chest press machine
@dualShockRK98
@dualShockRK98 3 жыл бұрын
@PogChamp Not a huge deal but just realize that a machine that converges has the advantage to not only allow you to shorten your pecs even more ( bigger range of motion ) but it also allows you to have resistance throughout the whole range. With a smith machine not to say its a bad exercise by any means but the bar is fixed so you cant get your pecs fully shortened and as with a dumbbell press at the top because the dumbbells is right above the shoulder joint that means the force of them is directly above that joint meaning moment arm is almost 0 there is not tension on the chest. With the machine because it congerves even when you are at the top of the movememnt the force direction is slightly out of the shoulders allowing you to have tension even pecs are fully shortnened in that top position. Profile is great, stability is great too

Did he really just say these tips will give you a chest “exactly like Arnold’s” How can you look in the camera and make that statement. Seriously dude that’s so wack for so many reasons. Reason 657 Everyone’s genetic capability’s and aesthetics are unique to them

@@HypertrophyCoach just not a great statement It leaves beginners with the assumption they can “look” like someone else. I don’t think that’s a very good way to communicate to a beginner. I think it’s better to just say “You can’t look like Arnold but you can improve your aesthetics with his routine maybe”
