What you can also do to speed it up us to take out the motors,strip the motors then take out the copper wire. Replace the copper wire with a little thicker one and make 13 rounds on each and then solder it to the links like the old one,now re assemble the motor and it will get faster Remember one thing the motor us much more powerful that's y it heats up pretty fas and might slightly deform the plaster of the rc car

@shortcutelectronics7 жыл бұрын
In my case the original voltage is 4,5V. I can agree that you can slightly increase the voltage directly, but I don't recommend doing that. In my case the motor is controlled directly from the microcontroller. From the datasheet I can find that the max voltage rating for this microcontroller is 6V. That means that if I will exceed this voltage, I will most probably damage the microcontroller, so this would newer work for me with 9V battery. P.S. Dude.. I personally would have went with a very small lipo battery instead of a regular 9 volt. I think a 7.4 volt lipo would suffice. Mabe a 1,000MAH. a vaping pen battery or any disposable item that has one would work. Then you can use the built in charging regulator that most small lipo batterys have in them.

I did it like this: so my car drives on batteries so i took and old 3.7 V drone battery, it has a charching port so i attached some two wires to minus and plus then i took out one of three normal batteries and attached minus to minus and plus to plus ane it's faster! Idk if you understood
@shortcutelectronics8 ай бұрын
If I understood, than it sounds like a fire hazard 😅It sounds like you mixed different types of batteries, which is bad especially when lipo battery is involved that your drone most probably had. Also all batteries should be more or less at the same charge level and the same type. I would not play with that thing indoors. If the lipo battery starts to burn, don't tell me I did not warn you. At least the approximate 2.2V increase sounds borderline safe but I hope you followed the instruction and checked if that is within the MAX voltage specification of you cars micro controller before doing that. Be safe bro.

ok that's faster, what type of battery upgrade will make it run longer?
@danielcolado54444 жыл бұрын
connect two identical batteries in-series: double the voltage ("more strength"), same capacity Connect them in parallel: same voltage, more current (larger battery capacity to last longer) For mine i run the parallel configuration because the added strength is rough on the motor overtime. I rather run them to boost capacity where multiple batteries operate at their highest voltage but lower current, instead of a single battery providing full voltage but at max amperage. Its a smoother output curve, you know how maybe the first half of a battery feels nice but the second half feels sluggish? In this parallel arrangement, you will experience that "new battery" performance since like i said, it is multiple batteries providing a single current, instead of one battery providing that entire same current. If you still need help let me know!

hi sir. I can't find that transistor buf 405a in my country. what should I do, is that can be changed to other transistor. sorry sir for my bad english. best regards.
@shortcutelectronics7 жыл бұрын
Rai Jaya Granit: Yes. Of course you can use any other NPN type transistor that has a proper collector current rating. The collector current depends on that, how much current will go through the motor. For a small RC car as I have a transistor with collector current rating of 2 - 3 amps should be more than enough. Each transistor has a datasheet that you can find on the web and there you will find its max collector current that it can handle.

I don't think it's that simple to kill the circuit. You should try to disassemble the car and look for water that's still on/under the circuit board or in the motors, because that might mess with the voltage levels. Try to get rid of all the water and than try to start the car once more. You can leave it in a warm place to dry for some time if you think that water is still there. The most problematic might be to remove the water from motors, but I think they should still run. Question is how long they will work if the water wont be removed.

Hi, a question. Can i use a 2N2222 transitor? Great video.
@shortcutelectronics6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Unfortunately 2N2222 transistor won't fit this purpose because it is meant for small signal amplification but you need a transistor tha can support something like 2A collector current. I guess the motor will spin, but the transistor will overheat very quickly. Of course if you don't worry to damage the transistor, you can try using it. Based on the datasheet that I found it supports 800 mA of collector current that might be enough for a small motor.

HELO i just want to know where to connect the resistor maby just show me the back of the pc bord and will it work with 12v battery i have a bigger rc car
@shortcutelectronics7 жыл бұрын
You can search for BUF405A datasheet (here's the link: www.svntc.com/TPDF/1032.pdf). There will be an image with the transistor and its pins labelled with numbers 1, 2 and 3. The resistor has to be connected to the first pin (BASE). In case if you are using different transistor, the corresponding pins might be in different positions so you have to check that. If you have the same transistor that I am using or similar, than there should be no problem with 12 volts because its max collector current can reach 7,5A. The worst case scenario is that you might damage the transistor in case if the motor resistance is too low. Only you have to be sure that the motor can handle 12V as I mentioned in my video. If your motor drains a lot of current a heat sink for the transistor might be a good idea, because it will heat up, but in my case the collector current was under 1A so I did not need one. Last thing I want to mention is that as I said in my video, after this upgrade the car will move only forwards or backwards. In case if you would want it to move in both directions, you would have to create something called "H bridge" but that would be more difficult to create because it requires 4 transistors. I hope this helps! :)

Hi Mila! Here's a link to a H bridge circuit: (www.electronics-tutorials.ws/io/io33.gif?x98918). The 9V battery should be connected to the Vcc and GND wires, and Input A and Input B should be connected to those 2 wires that in my case originally were coming from microcontroller to the motor, before I placed a transistor there. I hope this helps!
@Bajagi17 жыл бұрын
ShortcutElectronics Thanks for your reply, I made like this but transistors overheat, possibly they were not installed diode.There will be some more of your tutorial video?Thank you anyway.
@shortcutelectronics7 жыл бұрын
I don't think that's the problem. If the transistors are overheating even when the motor is not running, than there's something wrong with the way how everything is connected. If transistors overheat only when the motor is running, than they can't handle the current and you need to use more powerful transistors. This month I will hopefully find some time to make 2 more videos. One of them I'm planning to make about H bridge, but that will be closer to the end of this month, beginning of next month :)
