I've suspected what you are saying for a long time now. Not just the idea of more woodshed time.. but this idea of finding your "sometimes playable notes and getting used to utilizing them into a progressive routine. Your thoughts all make a huge amount of sense to me. Thank you.

The light came on for me when I purchased the Trombonisims book by Bill Watrous. This is where it all comes from. After Bill passed tragically a few years ago, I joined his widow's Facebook discussion. She told me that Bill practice eight hours a day for his whole life!
