Before I could speak any English I remember accumulating vocabulary first, I would do pretty much all you mention in this video, I'd search the information I needed in English, read articles in English, follow people who post content in English and use my English either with others or alone but I always tried to get corrections even if I talked or wrote to myself, I don't remember memorizing lists of words, I'd memorize dialogues and speeches instead, I'd shadow a lot too. Even when I started an English course to have a time to interact others in English I never memorized the lists of words we were given on a specific topic, I'd search for info about the topic and do some shadowing on people who talked about it, so I'd naturally use all the vocabulary in context which makes it way easier to remember.

One of the ways to learn new words is to study root words. For example: Chron means time. Now we can make some words using this root word. Chronology / chronological / chronologist / anachronistic / synchronous / chronicle / chronometer / chronic and so on. I use this method for learning new words. Thanks for sharing methods that have been used by you and some of them I used to follow. But for learning new words or vocabulary, learning through root words is really effective for me.

Hello Anna, you know, I was working as a tourist driver for a travel agency, so, I noticed something very usual about me, when the tourist told me: thanks.. etc, etc. I always said: "your welcome" every time my answer was that, so, I thought about it and I decided to download a synonymous app, and that helped me a lot!! Because I learned new words at the same time to say :it's nothing, or your welcome, or, was my pleasure... That was very useful to me.

Let me tell you my experience. My English learning path started when I was a child, when I was enrolled in an English course in 2000. I was pretty enthusiastic at that time because it was something new to dive into. As a seven year old girl, I started learning the basics. The worst of it happened when I could not be enrolled in my second course due to the lack of students and the coordinator of the area decided to enroll me in the fifth one. Since that day on, it was a total torture. Imagine a small girl in the middle of class where everyone speaks fluently or with a certain level and I couldn't even build a basic sentence with verb to be. I repeated every course like twice since that day and psychologically turned into a torture. I grew up going to the classes and trying to fill out the gaps I had in my head I remembered that at the age of 12, I was doing a list with every tense I need to know for communicating effectively. Therefore, there was some time where I studied just to pass the test with the score required. It was psychologically the best way to escape from something I was forced to learn since Childhood. My youth was not something different, I reached out to take it all in but after the class, I totally abandoned my efforts to learn. There was a point where I hate the language and I am 30 now, feeling that there is a lack in vocabulary that is affecting me. What should I do? How to improve my English without feeling overwhelmed by it?

One must must make one's own dictionary by jotting down words in it then one must repeat them from time to time for a long time if not, one may forget all words after few weeks or few months saying is that one rememdered most of "R" words few years ago but today one does not know about all of them because One has not repeated them from time to time nor has one made own selected words dictionary...lovely video! Hello, Anna! Thank you for this video, I found out some new ways of remembering new words. I am going to test them right today :) But let me share another method with you. It's very useful to look at the meaning of an unknown word not in a translation, but in English dictionary, for instance, in Cambridge dictionary. I tried it one day and now do and I can say that it works! That dictionary is so good that you can even read some structures and sentences where that specific word can be used. I hope this information was interesting for you) I also want to tell you that I admire you! Your English is charming and very clear! It's fantastic, I could understand almost everything myself! But why did you decide to learn exactly American English? And how long have you been learning it? I am sorry if I missed your answers to these questions, I joined your channel not so long. And thank you for your labour! You help a lot of people like me, who want to be fluent in English but don't have an opportunity to get English courses.

For me, it is reading The Economist. It would be a torture at first you will benefit from it after a few months. Some times you might be too busy to read from the first page to the end of each edition, just read the part that involves your country. Authors from TE are obsessed about using less common words.
