27 seconds in, Thanks Sharon this is the first video I am watching, my goal is to have a submit button on sheet 1 that will post field results into new lines on sheet 2. For example an invoice that is filled out on sheet one then it is posted as a new line as an invoice record on sheet 2....Also sends to the printer. Will keep watching but not my intended result.

Super helpful videos but one quick question that might be confusing. Is there a way to take the fillable form data auto-populate a larger excel spreadsheet. For example, I'd want to send out this form to a handful of people and want to have the responses organized into one large excel spreadsheet. So is there a way to have the forms auto-populate a larger data table without having to individually copy all of the information into my larger dataset? If this isn't feasible with this method is there a different way you suggest in making an excel spreadsheet that looks nice and is easily fillable by multiple people without them messing around with the sheet by creating new columns or changing the size of columns?

submit button form to prepopulate excel file data 7:15 Thank you for these videos. I'm trying to work out how I can collect the data from the submitted forms with the submit button into a spreadsheet. I have managed to do one line, but I cannot work out how to get the next line, it just writes over itself. I then want the next line and so on to prepopulate when lots of people will be using the form . I want the data to go to the next line after each submit button is selected. Does that make sense ? So when I select the Submit button, it overwrites the previous submission populated row in excel table instead of going to the next line automatically. Many thanks for your help - have been following for a while. You explain things beautifully.

This is great! Thank-you. If I want to be the one who fills the form and sends it to the same recipient daily, (like an order form) can the “submit” button be made to disappear when the recipient opens it? Hopefully the question makes sense.
@SharonSmith
@SharonSmith 11 ай бұрын
Hello! If you are familiar and comfortable with VBA, there is a way you can set this up. You will have to save the file as macro-enabled. Here is some additional information: Yes, it is possible to design the form in Excel such that the "Submit" button disappears after the recipient opens it. This functionality can be achieved through VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) code. Here's a basic outline of how you could implement this: Create a Macro to Hide the Submit Button: You can create a VBA macro that hides the "Submit" button when the recipient opens the Excel file. Trigger the Macro on Workbook Open: You'll need to set up an event handler in VBA that triggers the macro to hide the button when the workbook is opened. Lock the Macro: To prevent the recipient from viewing or editing the VBA code, you can lock the VBA project with a password. Here's a simplified example of how you might write the VBA code: Private Sub Workbook_Open() ' This macro hides the submit button when the workbook is opened Dim btn As Shape On Error Resume Next ' If the button is not found, ignore the error Set btn = Me.Shapes("SubmitButton") ' Change "SubmitButton" to the name of your submit button On Error GoTo 0 ' Reset error handling If Not btn Is Nothing Then btn.Visible = False ' Hide the button End If End Sub To implement this: - Press Alt + F11 to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor. - In the VBA editor, find your Excel file ("VBAProject (YourFileName.xlsm)") in the Project Explorer. - Double-click "ThisWorkbook" to open the code window. - Paste the code provided above into the code window. - Replace "SubmitButton" with the name of your actual submit button. Remember to save your Excel file as a macro-enabled workbook (*.xlsm) to retain the VBA code. Once implemented, when the recipient opens the Excel file, the "Submit" button should automatically disappear, making it a one-time use form for submission. Ensure that the recipient does not have access to the VBA code, or consider locking the VBA project with a password to prevent unauthorized access. Test thoroughly! Hope this helps! Thanks for watching my videos!

Hi Willie! The MS Office applications on Mac have a different user interface (even if it is the latest version). Sometimes on the Microsoft documentation site, they provide instructions on how to do things in PC and Mac versions, so hopefully that will help you out. Thanks so much for watching my videos!

I had the same problem. I found that you have to have the user save the file first locally, and then they can click submit. This will save what they entered and email the document with the saved info. I wish though, we could force the save through the VBA code, as I am sure users will forget to click save before submitting. Sharon, any thoughts on this? - thanks for this great video!

Hi Frank, thanks for watching my videos! With this particular VBA code, it will attach the entire document. Would you be able to save your form worksheet as a separate file that you could attach? If you have sheets in your workbook that need to remain, are you able to make them very hidden? (Here is a video on how to make sheets very hidden: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npKXfat5hayXhsU). Hopefully one of these options works for you. Take care!

Hi Sharon, I accidentally asked this question in the comments of another video. I appreciate your videos. My question is (I see this was asked a year ago, but do not see a response.) ... Is there a way have the submissions populate into an Excel spreadsheet once the user hits submit? How would you recommend we do this? It just doesn't do me a lot of good to collect the data without this option. Also, for users who do not have Excel, if I convert this into a PDF file, will my options (down arrow items) still work, and how do I get all of that info into an excel spreadsheet. Your reply is greatly appreciated. Joanne

Here is the VBA code in the description of this video. Hope this helps! Here is the VBA code used in this video to create the macro for the Submit command button (be sure to replace the Subject, Body Text and Email address with your own information): Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim xOutlookObj As Object Dim xOutApp As Object Dim xOutMail As Object Dim xMailBody As String On Error Resume Next Set xOutApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application") Set xOutMail = xOutApp.CreateItem(0) xMailBody = "Type the body or your email message here" & vbNewLine & vbNewLine & _ "Use this if you want a separate line of text" & vbNewLine & _ "Use this if you want another separate line of text" On Error Resume Next With xOutMail .To = "sharon@sharonsmithhr.com" .CC = "" .BCC = "" .Subject = "Enter the Email Subject Here" .Body = xMailBody .Attachments.Add ActiveWorkbook.FullName .Display 'or use .Send End With On Error GoTo 0 Set xOutMail = Nothing Set xOutApp = Nothing End Sub

Really enjoyed your video. Followed step-by-step and added submit button. When the form is sent to the email address associated in the Developer tool portion, the form is received blank and all typed in information has disappeared. Is there a solution to this? Is anyone else having this problem?

is there any way you can give us the code to send just a single sheet (vs entire workbook)? It should be very simple. Thank you!! video was great and looking forward to watching more of the channel.

Hi Sharon. I’m having one small problem: Whenever I receive a submitted spreadsheet back it is completely blank. All of the filled in information is removed. This only happens when they submit the spreadsheet back using the submit button. Is there a way to fix this?
