the components involved in installing 3 phase wiring system include
a).3 phase cut-out(belongs to the company supplying power);it cuts off or isolates the whole electrical installation from the 3 phase mains supply.it is fitted with 100-200A rated fuse to protect the whole 3 phase installation.
b).3 phase metre(belongs to the company supplying power);it measures the amount of electrical energy consumed in the whole electrical installation.
c).main switch/3 phase MCB(belongs to the consumer) Is used by the consumer to disconnect the whole 3 phase installation from the mains supply for repair or incase of emergency.It also trips when a fault eg short circuit occurs in the 3 phase installation.
d).earth leakage circuit breaker(belongs to the consumer).It detects and stops electric current that leakes into the earth,(current that leakes from the intended path and goes to the ground) mainly due to broken wires or damaged insulations and can cause electric shock.it instantly breaks/opens the circuit(trips)
e).3 phase distribution board (purchased by the consumer as seen in the practical)it distributes current to both single and 3 phase loads.
f).isolator.it is fused to protect all 3 fase loads connected to the 3 phase socket plug.
g).3 phase socket plug.it is where 3 phase loads are connected.
