A very light coat in and out of that o-lite bushing with ND (non detergent) 30w oil will make it last longer. As maintenance, when changing the motor oil also remove that bushing and clean it with 30w nd oil and a green Scotchbrite. It's a porous bronze bushing that carries oil.
@adamcolbertmusic2 жыл бұрын
Good point, I was reading about that bushing, that automotive companies actually vacuum seal it in oil first to get oil into the pores. What I did is put it in a small container of motor oil and let it sit in the freezer over night. It's kind of like marinating something in the fridge.....cooling it makes the air in the pores shrink, which causes a (semi) vacuum effect that pulls the liquid into the pores. Of course, I let it come to outside temperature before reinstalling it. And before doing any of that, I cleaned it with acetone and a paper towel and let it dry. Fortunately, that piece is very quick and easy to access, so regular maintenance isn't even a hassle!

seems like you have that belt a little too tight. it appears that you have it so tight that you have to force it so spin. yo. I have a ton of exp. with cent. clutches, and they DONT like being tight!!! the bronze sleeve between the shaft and the bell will burn off whatever lube is on it in seconds,.. and then the sleeve itself will start raising holy hell in there. sometimes they break apart, sometimes they just get so soft from being glowing red hot they deform and fail. that bronze collar/sleeve needs to be lubed at the LEAST every other time you plan on using it----any clutch manufacturer will say the same. I found out about it because my friend wanted his minibike chain tight at all times and it wore down, melted, came apart, and seized and $30 bucks was toast in a week. manufacturers want that collar/sleeve lubed. usually they recommend daily lube. so ill be installing mine with the ability to get in there and lube it without too much undue heartache. a minibike you just lean over and hit it, this is a tad more involved but not a deal breaker. never, ever use more than two drops, and always use clean motor oil to do it NOT penetrating oil like wd40 or 3 in 1. rock on bro.
@robertsmith53238 жыл бұрын
+robert smith see how the bell is reliant on that sleeve to hold it at the proper flatness for lack of a better word,.. if that sleeve wears, the bell wont ride flat anymore, and the clutch doesnt grab like it should because its not flat to flat anymore. after that,.. complete failiure isnt far off. when I buy a clutch I always try to get one that they have an extra sleeve for, and I get at least one extra. even with religious lubing and perfect alignment, they are still the weak point and the first thing to wear out.---I used your video to build my first 2 stroke bike, and im using your vids on 4 bangers to build my next bike in a couple weeks. understandable, and thorough. well done, sir.
@robertsmith53238 жыл бұрын
+robert smith one final note on those clutches when used for a belt, they get hot. the shaft/sprocket area where the belt rides gets the hottest. I mean burn your finger hot. think about that thin, delicate rubber belt sitting stationary on that almost glowing hot belt sprocket. I can already smell the rubber burning from here. you want the coolest running clutch you can possibly have with a rubber belt. getting that thing hot and parking it is going to create a weak spot on that belt, maybe even burn it in half!!! bummer? you bet. think about ways to let that baby cool off before you hop off and walk away............you might be smelling burning rubber real fast and im not talking about the good burnt rubber. I been watching videos about 4 stroke builds on youtube for weeks, trying to pack as much info into my head as possible before I jump out the window, and I haven't heard a SOUL mention ANYTHING about clutch heat and what It can (and will) do to a 3/16 inch thick Chinese rubber belt. that seems VERY odd.

@joeMW2843 жыл бұрын
@@zekenoscooter_8608FYI- it ended up being the motor that was causing the vibration. Something was not right with that thing. However, the reason the 100t was wobbling was because the spacer that goes on the shaft behind it wasn't cut straight. I replaced it with a stack of washers and it's all good now. @zekenoscooter_86083 жыл бұрын
I know. 3 years old. But I had to. I had an original Electra before they were bought out by (I think it was) Kent. Big stretched pedals forward. Pretty mint too. So big I had to modify the mounting plate setup to be BIGGER! Mounted so low I had to run a 26t center sprocket. Bike came out beautiful. 6 months and I snapped the seat stays right behind the seat. Mind that this was an aluminum frame, but it was also only a 49cc 4 stroke. No. I would not put a 212 on your Electra. Steel or no steel. A consumer retail bicycle will break under those kind of forces. Say again: WILL BREAK. I'd suggest purpose built or, at the very least heavy modification. Can you attach pics to these comments? I'm a try. Look around, I'll try to get pics up somewhere.

what is the advantage of this 7G T-belt, is just simmilar to any transfer case you can use in 4 stroke engines with a centrifugal with a fixed reduction gear box... but uses pulley and belt instead of a chain? or does this variates like a small cvt or2 stroke mopeds transmission?
