I would’ve sanded the rough edges more and put several layers of texture spray. Not just a single coat. First coat adds some bumpy leveling. But the next coat or two truly adds the real texture. The mud is very evident from a distance. You want it hard to see from even up close.
@LonghornWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Yeah it was my first time hence the results. Good tips though thanks for that. Right now most of it is covered by the mirror, but I plan to come back when I get time and redo the texturing.

An easy way to smooth the edges of new mud and to help it blend with existing texture is to wet sand it with a grout sponge or my preference, a wet paint brush. It helps smooth the edge and will make it disappear. Also, moving the texture can in a circular motion helps with the pattern as well.

In the days before drywall was common, lots of plastering was done after the trim was in place. As a result, plaster was made to fit the trim rather than the trim being made to fit the plaster.
