How to install a Blue Sea Fuse block in My Flats Boat

As a former Professional Marine Technician of more than 20 years, I noticed an electrical issue occurring when my GPS was shutting off because of poor connections due to corrosion of the Negative Bus Bar. As I consider future possible electrical upgrades, I decided to install a Blue-Sea-ST-5025-6 Circuit Fuse Block with Negative Bus Bar. I just installed this on a Kubota RTV for installation of a GMRS radio and rear work lights. Only thing I would add, make sure you have a 30 to 40 amp fuse on the hot wire from the battery, which should be 12 ga wire to the fuse panel as well, I got the resettable version which also has is a disconnect if needed. Also, add shrink wrap to all your connections.

What is another terminals for the positive or negative? And are the smaller ones quarter inch?

Great and timely video. I have a 5 switch and the same fuse box. Trying to figure out if this is right. Device + to the switch Device - to the fuse box ground Switch + to the fuse box + Battery +/- directly to the fuse box? Thanks for any help.

Fuse box should also be fused to the battery or battery switch but the rest sounds right

So I'm a complete newb to this stuff but I'm looking to install my new gps/fish finder onto my fuse block. You stated you installed the one positive terminal to the positive on the fuse block at 6:01 for the gps. So I'm assuming you just install the negative (black cable) to a negative terminal on the same fuse block? Or am I missing something?

Yes the negative was also installed onto the ground bus bar

Yes the boat has a 50 amp breaker main fuse at the battery switch from the factory

Thanks for the video! For your live well and bilge pump, do you run the negative wire straight to the bus bar and the positive wire from the bus bar to the rocker switch?

Well on my boat the bilge pump is powered separately from by fuse block but the ground is on the buss bar but if you are going to use it for the switch then yes you will power the switch from the bus bar hope that answers your question

Quick question, I’m kind of in a similar deal with my boat. I don’t think I need to run 4-6 AWG wire w/125A max fuse for the components I’m running. I’m running lights, wash down pump, vhf radio, etc… do you think I can run 12 AWG on my main lead, with a 30A inline fuse?

My main run is a 10 gauge with a 50 amp breaker if that answers your question

@@ShallowHookerFishing gonna play it safe and run the 6AWG to the fuse block, with a 125A at the battery terminal. “Do it once, and do it right” deal… Thanks for response.

Hey, I'm kind of curious how you mounted this to the inside of your console - did you have to through-bolt it? I'm facing the same scenario and I don't really want to drill holes through my console..

The console was 1 inch thick there so just used 1/2 inch screws to mount it. If not would have used 3m 5200 adhesive
