How to Install a Commercial Door Pivot [1080p]

I've rarely seen one where the sides of the threshold weren't installed below both sides of the aluminum frame (a pre-installed aluminum door)...Good luck in getting those frozen stripped pivot screws and threshold out.... You usually do not have to take the usually stripped frozen screws out of the top pivot to remove the door. There is usually a poke hole visible from the top to insert a tool to push the spring loaded pin down. If there is no hole (like seen here) simply drill an 1/8" hole from the top and push the pin down with something....It's hilarious that the "leg" was pre-cut off (1:25) from the rest of the bottom pivot assembly before the video was made to make this look like a 5 minute job...

nice video. Definitely helped that there was no stripped screws or caulking :) Thanks for showing you using the riser set screws. the Allen heads that drive downward prevent the weight of the door from rocking and snapping the pivot prematurely. Seriously, nicely done.

What if the door doesn’t just come out of the bottom pivot when you unscrew it from the top. No screw or anything. I thought maybe there was a cap covering a screw but nothing comes apart on the bottom pivot

Hi Brandon. The top pivot uses 3/4" 10-24 screws to fasten into the header.

I am installing a Kawneer Pivot door inside a warehouse. In the place where its gonna be installed there are french doors. So i'm gonna have to remove the french doors and build in so that the Kawneer door will fit. My question is....is it possible to mount the Kawneer frame to wood. I hadn't been able to find this type of install online yet.

+floridaboy9942 If you want to install a new commercial door pivot, we suggest you remove the complete French Doors and frame and then install a new commercial door frame inside the opening. We don't recommend trying to install the commercial door pivot in a wood door (French Door) frame.
