My flange is on the fireplace itself flush with the tile. I want to put thin brick on top of the tile for a different look but that would make the flange look recessed. Does the flange have to be screwed all the way down or can it be left raised to accommodate the new width of the brick?

Good video, Do you know who you would call to replace the gas valve turn on, mine is stripped.
@StarfireDirect2 жыл бұрын
Nate, We can certainly offer a new key valve. Typically, the valves in the wall are 1/2", so this is the one you'd need: starfiredirect.com/products/starfire-designs-straight-decorative-gas-key-valve-kit But regarding labor to install, we can't really assist with that. Likely, you'll need to cut a hole in the wall to expose the valve and replace it. This should be doable by an experienced, qualified local plumber or general contractor. Hope this helps!

Just checked out this video hoping to see if you say how the gas line is arranged behind the wall. I'm looking to mount a flat screen hanger on the wall above the fireplace key valve, any idea how to do this safely? Does the gas line go up into attic or done in ground? Thanks.
@StarfireDirect Жыл бұрын
Great question! The best answer is "it depends". Sometimes the gas line comes up from the ground, other times it runs through the wall or from the attic space. The only way to know for sure is to open up the wall or inspect your crawl space to determine how it feeds. I've also seen some fancy new electric devices (think stud finder) that can detect gas or electric lines in a wall, but I haven't used those and can't recommend one. With that said, regarding your TV mount, I don't think that will be an issue for you. Most TV mounts require that you anchor into the studs, especially for heavier TVs. If mounting a small TV, you might be hanging into drywall and using drywall anchors. I don't believe these will interfere with your gas line. Hope this helps! Starfire Direct

May I ask what are those little rocks you light up? Are those important to the gas fireplace? Where to buy it?

In this video, we used a 24" Charred American Oak Real Fyre gas log set. What you see "burning" is the glowing embers. We trimmed the log set with small crushed lava rock. All of these items are available at www.StarfireDirect.com

Can't find a replacement for my cover. The threads of the valve are not recessed into wall. They come out about 1/2 inch. The cover I need to replace is cone shaped or umbrella shaped.

It's possible this won't work for you and you might need to replace the valve if you're wanting a new flange.
@ionewingedangel1712 Жыл бұрын
So how do you remove a broken flange?
@StarfireDirect Жыл бұрын
I'd probably suggest some pliers or a channel locks. It should spin off. If it's broken, I wouldn't be concerned with scratching it. But without seeing it, couldn't say for sure.

my key is not Turning how to replace whole inside part
@StarfireDirect Жыл бұрын
Did it used to turn? There is a possibility that the valve is fine and the key isn't working. You would want to make sure you have the right key before replacing the valve. If you are positive that the valve is defective or stripped, you would need to open the wall to access the valve and replace it. Then you would need to do drywall repair and paint.

He doesn't even have right tool
@StarfireDirect2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, thanks for the comment. As mentioned in the video, we only used channel locks because the old flange was beat up and getting tossed. Using a tool like this would obviously mar or scratch the new flange, which is why we didn't use the channel locks when installing the new flange. A socket wrench with a square hub that fits in the square flange hole is a good idea too. If you have a tool that you prefer to use during your installations, please leave it in the comments to help other viewers. I'm sure they'd appreciate it!

Bought one of these from you guys and it just arrived. What tool can i use to screw this in? I got the old one off but its requiring some muscle to put the new one in. The old one has prob been there like 30 years or something, this is in a floor that goes to a crawl
@StarfireDirect2 жыл бұрын
We typically use a socket wrench in the center. See if that helps!
