Harder to find in long lengths but if you’re going for shear strength you should use stainless screws. Also switch out all your door screws with longer ones. Latches and plates. I’ve never understood why door knob/lock hardware comes with screws that are less than an inch long. If your holes are stripped out you can shove a toothpick or two in there to help the screw bite.

Just an fyi to all this security lock needs to be installed below the door lock that’s where someone trying to kick in the door will hit not the top defeats the security part ❤

I bought one of these to try out and liked it so much I bought two more. I did have to chisel out just a bit but that went fine. I used nothing but 3" SS deck screws on all hinges and strike plates. I also changed out those worthless flimsy strike plates.

I thought you installed the lock so high up to keep your kids from opening the door. For shear strength. You should’ve installed this lock a few unscheduled below the the door knob. Where thieves would actually kick. Definitely still helps what you did

It’s much easier if you pick up a set of vix bits at Harbor, really cheap. Drill bit is housed in a chamfered drill fixture, each bit size is determined by the hinge plate chamfer size

I'm a pensioner and terrified of going out as someone before xmas tried to get in my place I was lucky I shouted and they ran of im waiting for a dead lock only problem is its has a lock the barrle sticks out half an inch so one twist with a grip and there in I have been waiting 2 months for the landlord to fix it this may be never my door opens out into the garden and the door is made of a plastic kind of stuff so not strong to fasten. a lock to anyway don't know what im to do

So in our case, we leave through the garage when we want to use the lock. If you only have one way to enter/leave your home, I don’t think you could lock this lock when you leave.
