Glad you included close-up footage. You can tell this is a good drywall hanger. Also glad you mentioned that you could just add another hanger for support. I was thinking that would be an option when I watched your other drywall hanger video.

I wondered with the 40 and 50 lb test if you would have drove the screw in fully to get the click of it opening the back of the plastic anchor if the result may have held better? Would have liked to have seen the backside too in the test since we at home can't always see the backside using these obviously, thanks for the test!

I just used two of these to hang my les paul up, the problem i ran into was the #8 screw was only 1 1/4 length and the mount itself didn't allow the screw length to fully seat (there's a click you hear while screwing the screw into the plastic anchor), so I ended up running to lowes and picked up some #8 that were 2 inches, that cleared the body of the mount, went into the plastic anchor and "clicked" to actually split the backend and hold them in more securely.

I always wondered with weight ratings, so one anchor is rated for 50 pounds, if you use 2 anchors does that double up to 100 pounds? what about 3, is that now 150 pounds? ..... Should do a test if possible, I haven't seen a test like that yet
@TheEffectofMaverick
@TheEffectofMaverick 3 жыл бұрын
If the weight is properly distributed evenly about the total anchors then the combined weight tolerance of all the anchors is what they will support, together. So 3 anchors can do 150 lbs as long as the weight is theoretically perfectly distributed between the 3 anchors.

Thanks for the video! I used an EZ Anchor to install a small piece of hardware that mounts a pet gate to the wall, but I forgot a tiny part. Can I back the screws out of the EZ Anchor to slip this missing piece in? Or will that destroy the EZ Anchor or the effectiveness of its hold in the drywall if I back out the screw and put it back in?

Newbie question: Can you hang the mirror wire directly on the screw or do you need the hook for added strength?
@campbellbuilt
@campbellbuilt 4 жыл бұрын
Sure a screw can be used by its self. The screw would need a decent size head though to keep the wire from slipping off.

Do not buy these unless you're screwing it into a stud. If you just have drywall without a stud (like in this video) you will not be able to get the screw flush against the wall. It will bottom out in the anchor and the screw will not punch through it.

I can’t for the life of me get the screw in all the way. It seems to require godly strength to screw in more than a couple centimeters. Help??!
@campbellbuilt
@campbellbuilt 4 жыл бұрын
Are you using Ez Ancor anchors? With the aluminum easy anchor if you run the screw into the anchor with a drill it will punch through the back side of the anchor. Basically you have two options you can trim your screw so that it it’s not bottoming out or you can run the screw in to the anchor with a drill. I caution using the drill method if your drywall is not in near perfect condition because the resistance of the screw breaking out the backside of the anchor could strip the anchor in the drywall. Or you could get a shorter screw. This was probably a pretty confusing explanation but I know exactly what you’re dealing with. Hopefully it helps
@heidi3149
@heidi3149 4 жыл бұрын
I’m using the plastic Ez anchors. Wouldn’t using a shorter screw mean that the hold isn’t as strong, since the anchor is designed to split behind the wall? When I tried a drill on the screw, the drill bit just wouldn’t grip, it was too tight. Thanks for the quick reply!
@campbellbuilt
@campbellbuilt 4 жыл бұрын
The way that the plastic ez ancor anchor works is as the screw is tightened in it breaks over a part of the back of the anchor. So yes you are correct that it splits the anchor. The screws that are supplied should work with the plastic ones. You very well may have a bad anchor. We occasionally run into that so I would most likely unscrew that anchor and try another one.
@ashtonguillory2179
@ashtonguillory2179 Жыл бұрын
Same ordeal I noticed. I ran a screw ina. Few times while holding it tight. And couldn't get the screw to go much further. Made me regret not getting the plastic ones. Hopefully they will punch through with the screw driver. Other wise idk if I'll use them they seem pretty tough and it seems like if I use the drill it may strip the ex anchor within the drywall. I hope I didn't waste my money.

How do you install the anchors that don’t have a screw tip? I got some with my curtain rod and have no idea how to do it.
@campbellbuilt
@campbellbuilt 4 жыл бұрын
That type of anchor typically specifies in the instructions what size drill bit would be used prior to installing the anchor. After drilling it out push the anchor in till flush.
@jadedaniels3881
@jadedaniels3881 4 жыл бұрын
Thanx. But it didn’t say anything about how to use the anchor in the instructions provided with my rod. Just says to use a drill to drill hole 🤷🏽‍♀️I found some information online about it being brown colored & that represents a 7 mm drill bit. So hopefully that’s true.

I hate instructions lately because they aren’t as helpful as they used to be. But I really appreciate your prompt response! One last question, do I still drill the screw in it after I put the anchor in the wall or before? Sorry if that’s a dumb question but my husband has no idea how to use them either. 🤦🏽‍♀️
@campbellbuilt
@campbellbuilt 4 жыл бұрын
No , most anchors that require pre drilling only have you push the anchor in flush for installation. Concerning what size drill bit is used , it should measure the same size as the back of the anchor.
