I thought Outside Edge said that the artwork does not need to be removed? I wish you had gone into more detail on the sanding procedure. Grit of sandpaper, etc. Interesting concept to paint black around the inserts. Poor table tennis table. Oh the humanity!
@CaryHardy4 жыл бұрын
You dont have to sand, but it is recommended. Start with 220 grit and see how fast the art comes off. Adjust accordingly.

@@CaryHardy thanks for the quick response. I am doing a Firepower. Outside Edge says that any inserts with artwork on them have to be sanded off, so in my case, I have to sand. Also, any inserts that are cupped up have to be fixed and sanding is the easiest. Cupped down apparently does not have to be corrected, although that surprises me. I would think the hard top would 'float' above a depressed cup insert.
@CaryHardy4 жыл бұрын
Technically it would float, but there isn't adhesive where the inserts are anyways. The HT is so solid that it won't be an issue. Sanding the inserts is a must, but if you are thinking long term - the whole playfield. Paint lifts- wood doesn't.

Can you explain a little more about the clear coat? My BK is at the bare pine stage now and want to make sure i do the clear coat right. What type did you use? Was it brush applied or spray bomb? I'm ready to head out to Home Depot at any time! LOL.

We use 2PAC (2 part automotive clear) we go a little more into the process in part 3 of this series.

I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to remove the inserts? I'm stripping mine down tonight to start the long journey of a HT install. Thanks for the video, it's very enabling.
@CaryHardy5 жыл бұрын
if you have jeweled inserts i wouldnt chance it. they are not being reproduced and look so much better with this game.
@cshelden35 жыл бұрын
@@CaryHardy Fair point! My PF is toast, this will require a complete cabinet overhaul to match the beauty this will become. I believe the LE is the only one with jeweled, I'm new to BK so will research. Mine is not the LE.

@@cshelden3 i dont know your skill level, but what advice i can give is: If the inserts arent damaged physically or cosmetically - leave them alone. You will only make more chances for issues that will need to be fixed. If it aint broke - dont fix it. lol.
