went back to stock clutch springs after getting a big pain in my wrist using the clutch. Also had a linkage brake inside the side cover due to over stressing those parts.

Yep, as long as you're not racing, the stock springs work best. Cheers!

Love these old bikes. I rescued a 1983 Suzuki GS1100E a couple of years ago. Now have it running and looking great. By the way you should do a video on these old electrical systems....That’s where I ran into the most aggravation during my rescue project Cheers... keep up the good work!

The GS1100E is an awesome machine! Oddly enough, I've had to replace the electric system on every old Suzuki I own. I did a video on replacing the rectifier on my current 1982 GS750E project (the wiring from the stator was new so I assume it was already done). It will be posted in another month or so.

Thanks for the how to video, I'm sure this would relate to other motorcycles.

That was very useful, and we'll don well balan Ed video, between the speecbibg, the text insertions and cool music over the time-lapse. I'll probably do that in my new to me Kz1000Ltd 1981. Thanks for the inspiration and keep on trucking!

Thanks David. I've been in a mad rush to get some comparison videos done on the muscle cruisers currently in the garage. The CSR will be taking on the competition from Honda and Suzuki so stay tuned!

Great video tutorial. I just rescued the 1983 KZ1000 police. Unfortunately for me, entire electrical wiring was butcher and destroyed. If you have any suggestions or video on rewiring entire bike I would love to see it.

Hi Alex, sorry to hear about the wiring on the KZ. It may be easier to get a replacement harness than to troubleshoot one that someone else has butchered. I don't have any wiring jobs on the horizon currently but if I get one I'll try to post a video.

@@BOP81 You may just need to look for a parts bike. It may be cheaper and at least you'll have a reference as well.

Thanks to your advice I rescued a 1980 Suzuki GS750L this weekend. Is Nazareth Pa in your neck of the woods?

Congratulations! Nazareth is about an hour and 45 minutes away from my area. What condition is the GS750L in? I am currently working on a GS750E project with videos to come a little later.

@@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 Thanks! It's in very good condition. Garage kept w/ 12K miles on it. The carburetors were recently rebuilt. It's ready to ride. Cant wait for the GS750E videos as the L&E models, from what I understand, have the same engines.

@@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 Jon, any advice on adding running lights to the rear turn signals? I know it needs to go from 2 to a 3 wire setup. Are LED lights worth adding?
@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538
@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 3 жыл бұрын
@@cjc_0167 If you get another set of front turn signals to put on the rear, they are already set up with 3 wires and dual filament bulbs. Most times you will need to add resistance to the light circuit if you go to LED turn signal bulbs. Brake light and head light LED bulbs should be fine - just stay away from cheap aftermarket junk.

Seems you remove the clutch plates the same way I do... I mean, sure I could buy the EBC clutch holder tool and remove the entire basket, but why though?
@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538
@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I don't think there's a need unless you are having issues with the clutch basket itself.

@@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 you're welcome Jon. I have a fondness for vintage bikes. I've owned a 1980 Honda cb750c since '88. It's a nice dependable bike which I love. It's in good shape, but not as nice as the ones you've been posting videos on. I also own an 05 sportster. See if you can guess which one I am way more fond of!!
