Is this account still active? I just tried installing this car seat and, despite my best efforts to get the latch straps pulled super tight, it still slides WAY MORE than an inch! I'm trying to install in rear-facing position, into a 2012 Kia Sportage. I've honestly installed it 3 times now, thinking I'm going crazy missing a step. But I'm convincing myself more now that the latch straps are in fact defect.

This may be a stupid question but I don't see it specified anywhere... Which seat do you install the car seat in for rear or front facing position, should it be installed behind the passenger seat or in the middle back? Thanks!!

Hi! We recently purchased the new 2017 Toyota Sienna minivan and a Chicco NextFit for our 1 yr old. In rear-facing position using the latch system, is it recommended to use the tether as well?? And if yes, do u happen to know where are the tether anchors for rear-facing?? I found the anchors behind the vehicle seat tucked underneath. However, I can't seem to locate any additional anchors for rear-facing.... please advise. Thanks Car Seat Lady!!

The Chicco Next Fit does NOT allow the use of the tether when the seat is rear-facing. Please make sure you carefully read your Chicco owner's manual in addition to watching this video - as you will see that neither talk about the use of the tether when the seat is rear-facing. Very few seats allow rear-facing tethering. If you want to limit the motion of the car seat towards the back of the vehicle (as a rear-facing tether does) we would suggest purchasing a car seat that offers an anti-rebound bar - like a Clek Foonf or Fllo - as these offer the same benefits in a crash without requiring a strap to be tied down to the seat track of the front seat.

Thanks for the video. QQ- Is the seat meant to be able to "slide" slightly if pushed towards the headrest area? Just want to make sure it is tight. I did your test and it didnt move.

One thing I've realized since filming this video 5 years ago is that this seat is easier to tighten if you pull the lower anchor straps from inside the car seat, not outside - see this video for what inside/outside means. As you pull the "pull 1st strap" lean the car seat towards the side of the pull 1st - and as you pull the "pull 2nd strap" lean the car seat towards the pull 2nd side. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYKwZn2olL-Wlas

There is no movement at the belt path but when I tug on the headrest the seat slides. is this fine? My wife refuses to use the seat.

Try putting the car seat into a more reclined position and reinstalling it as shown in the video. Sometimes when the seat is on the more upright range for rear-facing you can tend to get more movement (especially at the head area) - specifically because the car seat doesn't tend to sink into the back of the vehicle's seat cushion as well when it is more upright rear-facing.

I've been debating about getting this seat for my 2 year old. But I'm really having a hard time deciding wether this or the Britax advocate Clicktight is a better choice. Looking to rear face her as long as possible but I drive a 2013 Toyota Corolla and dont know which of these is my best option? Safety wise which do you guys recommend? Thank you so much in advance

+msdikova23 Between the 2 you are debating, we'd suggest the Chicco. The Britax is much more cramped in the leg area and the Britax crotch buckle is low and tight which is uncomfortable to some kids. However, I'd also suggest looking at the Clek seats as they are narrow on the outside and very roomy on the inside and the straps are much easier to tighten on the child than on other seats.

I read somewhere that the Britax is lined with better EPP vs EPS foam, does that make a difference in the safety of the car seat? In most sedans, no. There are only a handful of sedans that have lower anchors in the center seat that are at the standard spacing of 11 inches (which is what would be required to install the Next Fit in the center with LATCH). Your vehicle owner's manual must SPECIFICALLY state that you may install a car seat in the center using the lower anchors AND that the spacing between these lower anchors is the standard 11 inches. You can install the Next Fit in the center with the seat belt (note that the center seat may not be wide enough to accommodate the Next Fit).

I've read there are problems with tightening the harness when rear-facing, since the harness strap must be pulled downwards to tighten, but it butts up against the car's cushion when properly installed, so there is no room to pull down. Did you experience this?

Rachel Delirious - the harness straps are much easier to tighten/loosen when you remove the shoulder strap covers (which is now allowed). You can never pull the tail downwards on a rear-facing seat - as downwards is into the back of the vehicle seat.

Models built after October are supposed to hace removable shoulder pads, so I'll just have to make sure I get a newer model. Not sure why the Amazon reviews stated that Chicco customer service said to pull the harness strap down.
