So did you change the spring at all on the disc they sent? After I installed I can't get it to stop creeping forward in first. I can get to almost the clutch being fully let out but it will either start moving or If I have the brake on it'll stall. I played with the gap adjusting with the clutch cable so much. I'm wondering if idle adjustment might help before I take the clutch pack back out and try the other springs.
@Team2Gils Жыл бұрын
No, I just used the one's that were in it. If it is grabbing that hard, sounds like cable needs to be tightened. The cable is adjusted so that the clutch is essentially pulled in, that is why it slipped at idle. Might check idle speed as well to make sure it is not idling too high.

Rick I had a couple questions about your setup. This has been my first year xc racing with a Raptor 700R and I am waiting on my Rekluse to get delivered, I think it is really going to help. To use engine braking down a steep decline do you need to blip the throttle to engage the clutch before hand? For example if you downshifted to 2nd right before the decline to get the additional engine braking. During a race are you able to lug it around in 3rd gear most of the time? Thanks for all the videos they have been really helpful and part of the reason I decided to go with the Raptor to xc race with.
@Team2Gils3 жыл бұрын
Engine braking works pretty much normal unless your at an idle when you go downhill, in that case, a quick blip will engage the clutch. You can lug around if you like, I try to drive normally, however I do upshift to gain more traction. Running 3rd on slick surfaces gives great traction.

When you put the clutch cover back on was the clutch the super soft? Im installing one and it just doesn't seem right. I can twist the part the cable slots in on the cover with my hand.
@Team2Gils Жыл бұрын
No, should be tight. When adjusted properly, the clutch is actually pulled in and disengaged at idle.

I was driving my Raptor the other day climbing a very large steep Sandy Hill I needed to downshift from third gear to 2nd and I couldn't get it in the second gear fast enough and I lost some momentum it was kind of scary I climb the Hill and all but not like I wanted to would this upgrade help in a situation like that where I'm in third gear and I need to downshift to second?

I broke my left arm last year and after a few hours riding my hand gets tired and makes pulling the clutch in harder and harder as well as making harder to hold on to the bars under fun accel. I understand that you still need to shift gears normally with the clutch. What I am still not too sure on is whether or not a rekluse works the way I think it does. Say you are in 2nd or 1st gear and you just roll to a stop, or even brake to a stop, do you have to use the clutch? If you come around a corner and a log is there and you slam on the brakes, will it stall like normal or just always come to an idle (at least in low gears 1 or 2)? I'm fine with using the clutch, but a lot of low speed technical stuff with a lot of clutch work wears me out fast.
@Team2Gils4 жыл бұрын
That is how it works. You can just just stop in whatever gear and the bike will idle. Give it the gas and it takes off again. Yeah, going into corners you can just slow down and roll back on the throttle and go. Also great for those surprises, you can jam on the brakes and maneuver and not have to worry about shifting at the same time.

@@Team2Gils Purchased one and had it installed by a shop. The starting and stopping part works, but it just keeps slipping at any hard amount of throttle. I don't know what to do to adjust it. The cable screw adjuster at the perch is all the way out already. I don't know if I need to adjust it in or out, or move that arm down on the clutch cover.... I'm so frustrated with it I just want to put the stock clutch back in. When I do the free play gain test, my clutch lever does not move at all and it's pretty hard to pull in. @@JarofMayonaise what you pay to have it installed?
@JarofMayonaise3 жыл бұрын
@@johnbruzzi4381 I dug through all my paperwork I still had and could not find the receipt I thought I had kept. I know it was at or around $400 because I remember it had to be less than what I made in a week. I do remember that they didn't charge for installing the product, they charged for hourly labor. I think it was $80 or $90/hour and it took 4 hours. It actually took longer but the guy doing the installation hadn't done one on a Raptor specifically so he had to 'learn' for a few extra hours. He said he had wasted a few hours doing something wrong but didn't charge me for it because he was learning and didn't feel right charging the customer for his mess ups. I'm pretty sure the bill was rounded down to an even $400. I had to take it back a week later for adjustments, which was all done for free. So far it's been a year+ without me having to touch anything and it seems to be working just as great as day 1.

Team 2 Gils does your quad role at all with the clutch on and in gear at a stand still mine likes to role just a pinch. My barrel adjuster is almost all the way out lol
@Team2Gils4 жыл бұрын
It does. With brake on it will sit there and idle fine, but no brake and it wants to move a little. Could not get rid of that. Adjust the free play like it says, with a little movement when you give it throttle then ride test it. If it is good it is good. If cable adjuster at limit, back off and adjust cable down by the clutch.

@@Team2Gils Finally got around to installing mine today. I cannot get it adjust at all. I have nothing but clutch drag. It is acting like a normal clutch. Did you have to take all the slack out of your cable? I have followed the directions several times and it would seem like my cable is stretched but it is a brand new bike.
@Team2Gils2 жыл бұрын
@@RJR-9603 adjusting is completely different than normal. With the bike just sitting there, your clutch should actually be pulled in, that is what allows it to slip. You want to put your finger or the band on your clutch and rev it up. It should only move in about and eight to quarter inch, check instructions on that. If moves more, tighten clutch cable till it is spec. At idle, there should be no slack at all, again, it will actually be pulled in. You will only see slack in your cable when you rev it.

It acts like a centrifugal clutch. At low rpm's, is disengages the clutch. You can literally let the clutch out at idle and the bike will stay put. When you give it the gas, it engages the clutch and away you go.
