You seem to have many of thought processes I do when it comes to electrical work. I won’t mention #8 on a 50 amp but I would like you opinion on is gfi requirements for EV in the 2020 NEC. Is that just outlets or chargers too?

At 0:01 plastered across the screen - "Installing a Rivian car CHAGER." What's a CHAGER? :D Sorry, couldn't resist. BTW, you're not installing a charger, but an EVSE - electric vehicle supply equipment. The chager, I mean charger, is in the vehicle. ;-) Signed, KAREN. LOL

Hi Joe, I've done a few Rivian car chargers too. Is this EV charger a max 32A or 40A?
@chuckm260Ай бұрын
The Rivian Wall Charger (EVSE) has a max of 48a (all three dip switches turned on which is how it is shipped), so a 60a breaker is required.

Although it’s nice to see the electrician KZbinr get flamesprayed, the customer is the real loser in all of this… not getting what he trusted the licensed tradesman to do what he’s supposed to do.

Im in Canada so code is a bit different,but #8 romex is good for 50amps provided itès not underground romex.Underground romex here has insulation rating of only 60 degrees,thus itès only good for 40amps.
@ZackMeetsWorldАй бұрын
@@pawelelektryk2985 yeah but you have to derate to the termination temperature of the car charger unless you change it from #6 to #8 when it enters the breaker.

I have a Rivian EVSE and I believe it should be a 6 and not an 8.

Haha, who cares about the romex in conduit, the real debate is about red vs black first!
