How To Install A SAT TV SOCKET Onto Coax Cable

This video shows you how to install a satellite wall plate and connecting to a coaxial cable. This is perfect for when you want to neaten up your TV system or have flexibility if you're likely to move the TV around the room.
The tools you will need:
1x sidecutters
1x Stanley knife or utility blade
1x small flat-headed screwdriver
Parts you will need
1x satellite wallplate
coaxial cable
Step by step
1) Using the cable cutters . cut the coaxial cable to the correct length. This needs to be short enough so that the wall plate can fit into the back box.
2) Using the utility knife, perform a small incision around the outside of the PVC jacket around 1.5cm or half an inch away from the end of the cable, forming a ring and remove. Exposing the cable braid and screen.
3)Fold back the cable braid and remove the screen.
4) Around 0.5cm or 1/6 inch, using the utility knife cut back the dielectric exposing the center conductor.
5) Loosen the screws on the wall plate and insert the center conductor into the center screw down terminal.
6) Tighten all screws so that the center conductor and ground shield (braid) are making a secure connection.
7) Screw wall plate into back box.

So the braiding you peel back over the top of the outer cable insulation? So the clamps are gripping the outer cable insulation and also some of the braids? And not just the braiding and the white inner sleeve? But the braids can't touch the inner metal shield right? Also in my home, the coax wiring comes from the top of the back box, and the wire has to plug into the underside of the tv socket, which meant that the co ax got quite bent in the back box. What would be the best solution for this besides having the TV socket upside down? Thanks.

A very small voltage maybe, under 18V DC so nothing to worry about. Just un-plug TV equipment from mains supply if you're worried.

You can, I would get a four module - 2 gang surround and 4 separate modules. This will do the trick.

Hi there. It depends on whether is is a satellite wall plate or a TV aerial wall plate. Basically you just need a fly-lead but depending what wall-plate you have depends on what type of fly-lead you require.

Hi, I just got a freesat and I live in an apartment in France. I connected the cable to the back of the Freesat and there is a triple connection in the wall. TV, R and SAT. However when I connect the other end into the SAT, my Freesat can't find a connection. Would you know what the problem could be? Thanks.

Hello there. please can you help, i have recently ditched Sky and want to use Freesat but they have left me with a Q- Dish, which i know doesn't work with Free sat, so i have purchased am HD quad LNB to replace the one in the dish, what i noticed was 2 coaxial cables coming from the satellite end, but i only have 1 satellite input in the Humax box, do i need a splitter, if so can your recommend one, or can it work without splitter? thanks for your help Tony

Hi Tom. If you have two satellite cables and one input on the Freesat box you will only need to connect one of them to the satellite receiver. This is a non recording version which I assume you were already aware of. Obviously you have to replace the LNB first.
