I should probably pay you for this video. Same pipe size and arrangement, bath orientation and even looks like same replacement mixer. My house has had the taps since at least the 70s though. I was not totally convinced I was getting the right flexis and was considering using some kind of speed fit but now I am confident

@@AbouttheHouse0 It is strange that your taps are swapped in relation to what the law says being a fairly new build. My plumbing is certainly pre-1972 as I discovered it has 3/4" pipe to the hot - so I had to get hold of some 3/4 olives. When I actually came to look I found a few other problems though. Seems like I have less space and i have had to disassemble the waste from the basin which goes behind the bath too. Additionally the hot pipe to the tap has was covered in green/blue corrosion and bent in multiple locations less than perfectly (looks like the apprentice got this job) so fitting compressions on is going to be awkward. May have to replace section of the pipe entirely but getting tools and arms in position is a nightmare. Furthermore it seems like the weight of the pipes if being supported by the rigid tap fittings so I need to figure out an alternative support system before replacing with flexis. From watching a few other videos, I would suggest always get a separate isolator (not built on to the flexi) as the flexi is often a point of failure which will need replacing. The 10 for £10 "balofix" isolators are not regarded in high esteem either for 2 reasons; they often dont work when you come to use them because the rubber seal fails - especially on hot lines and secondly they are narrow bore which will reduce the flow - which on a shower mixer thing might be noticeable if your pressure is already low. Full bore valves (and ideally with a handle) at least on the hot is the way to go. After talking with colleagues at work, one told me of his story of having a shower and suddenly the shower going off then hearing water gushing. After calling a plumber, the cause was the hot flexi had corroded due to a tiny leak at the tap connection. Stories like that make me paranoid - as he said himself- it was lucky he was actually in the bathroom when it happened. He still had to run down and shut off the water at the mains - but makes me want to install non-concealed valves that can be turned by hand or even automatic shutoff valves! So inspect your flexis regularly for corrosion. All good fun, eh?

If you don't cut the copper pipe and replace with a flex hose, will it still fit or could the threads on the new tap be too long?

I don´t understand why did you chose Mixer Tap with two separate valves. These things are obsolete (at least in my country). You can have Mixer Tap with one valve, with ability to gradually increase or decrease temperature of water with one lever.

How do you know the size of the pipes? Does it tell you what MM they are? X

I know this is a long time coming as i just watched this and saw your comment. What you do is see the bulb looking thing that is in between the taps with the shower hose connected it pulls up and pushes down. You (well with mine anyway) you push it down to divert the water to the shower head and pull it up to use the taps. What you might find is that it could be very stiff if you havent used it at all especially if there is limescale build up. There is a really strong descaler that you can get in gel to paint the base with if it is encrusted and it should move freely.
