I just got a civic 2009 from my mother and it requires a bit of work. There's fixing the arm rest clip, changing the speakers, fixing the hail damage, etc. All overwhelming at first, and i've wanted to customize it to my liking. This video has given some newfound confidence and alleviated any concerns i've had. Didn't even know that putting in a touch screen audio unit was possible so mad props to ya crutchfield for this great video.

Not all versions of the Honda Civic come factory equipped with separate tweeters. The ones that do (in this year range) have grills that pry off at the front edge (near the "A" pillars).This is covered in greater detail in our MasterSheet instructions for the vehicle: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc180/p_264MASTER/Crutchfield-Car-Audio-Installation-Instructions.html?search=264master&skipvs=T We'll provide the MasterSheet instructions and our Lifetime tech Support, free of charge, with any purchase for your Civic.Hope that helps!--Crutchfield

Question regarding the two screws that get removed at 2:03. I just installed using a Scosche HA1561G Dash Kit and it's nearly impossible to put those screws back into it. Is that dash kit somehow supposed to reaccept those screws? I am having my doubts because the plastic doesn't have enough rigidity, compared to the OEM metal frame, to hold in place for the screws to line up.

Looks like you'll want to match up the kit/screws to the new radio as shown on page two of the kit manual here: pdf.crutchfieldonline.com/ImageBank/v20061012103600/Manuals/142/142HA1561G.PDF

The parking brake wire must be attached in order to display video content with any touch screen/video screen receiver installation. Due to legal and safety reasons, you cannot view video unless your vehicle's parking brake is engaged. If you attempt to view video without the parking brake engaged, the unit's LCD touchscreen will simply display "Parking Off". Hope that helps! --Crutchfield

What is the exact brand and model of your speakers? 300-watts is a large amount of power, and we can match an amp to the RMS wattage specifications on your speakers perfectly. For the absolute best possible performance from any speaker, an aftermarket amp is a great call.

Factory honda civic radio comes with 4 harness plugged in. The 4th one on the right(not the antenna) has the wires for your steering wheel. I dont know which on it is all i know is that one of those wires plugs into your steering wheel. And for those who connected your new radio and have no sound the baby blue wire on that 4th harness is your answer. Connect that to the blue wire and your should get sound. (Baby blue wire is your amp connector) I have 2009 honda civic ex and installed a radio without any harness. Its a bitch but it works.

Where did you mount the BT mic? and how did you run the cable for it? My order is coming soon so I will be doing this next week.
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 8 жыл бұрын
+Josh Conner Wired Bluetooth mics can be mounted in any number of locations. The Sunvisor location is most popular but many mount them to their steering columns or dash. There's no "one way" the cable must be run but you should be able to hide it under the factory trim and moldings until you get it inside of the dash and plug into the back of the stereo.For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly:www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc180/support/ContactUs.aspx Hope that helps!--Crutchfield

Crutchfield the stereo you installed has a feature to mirror your phone using a hdmi cable. Can you explain how to hook it up cuz or tried every which way I can think of and it won't work. Thanks
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 7 жыл бұрын
In order to mirror a smartphone screen, you'll need an Android phone that supports MHL (few do anymore), and an MHL/USB to HDMI cable.For iPhone, you'll need Apple's Digital A/V adapter, a lightning to USB cable, and an HDMI cable. Here's the Digital A/V adapter: bit.ly/2lp17f4 For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly: bit.ly/2jBGHPp Hope that helps.--Crutchfield

It depends on the speakers being compared as we have different models all giving a different sound. I need to remove the radio and the display above it from the dash panel. I am going to attempt to polish the display. Someone took some kind of chemical or maybe a dirty cloth and scratched it so bad you cannot see display except at night. How does the radio knobs come off?
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 4 жыл бұрын
Oh I hate to hear that happened. We don't know if the radio knobs can come off. That wasn't necessary to know when replacing the stock radio. We found that the climate control knobs outer rings pry off helping to separate them for the panel.

Why did you hook onto the brake ? I don’t get it ? What function does it have ? Is it nesessary?
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 4 жыл бұрын
Receivers require a connection to the parking brake as a safety features. Certain advanced menus, functions, and video playback will not work unless the Parking brake is engaged. This is necessary, and is a legally mandated, important safety feature.

my music plays good but as soon as I throw the car in drive and accelerate the music cuts off is it because I don't have that parking break wire connected to the wiring harness on the double din ?
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 5 жыл бұрын
I doubt that your issue is linked to the parking brake wire. That wire only affects video and the ability to see it. That being said, I don't know what would cause your issue. If you purchased the gear from Crutchfield, I recommend calling our technical support for help. If the gear was purchased elsewhere and they cannot help, you might try contacting the manufacturer for help

Do you need to disable the anti-theft radio feature of the honda civic? and Does the pry tool come with the installation kit from the Crutchfield website?
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 6 жыл бұрын
I've looked through our information on these cars but didn't see any mention of special steps to disable that; not even in our installation instructions. I don't expect that to be necessary. The pry tools are not part of the vehicle specific install gear we list of this vehicle. If you don't have any pry tools, then I highly recommend getting them and our web site is programmed to recommend them for customers who don't already have them. HTH! --Crutchfield

@crutchfield

We connect to the parking brake wire because that's the proper way to install it so that all safety precautions are observed and that there are no legal issues regardless of state you are driving in

Crutchfield Thats a rather broad opinionated explanation. Ive used countless technical manuals both in the automotive and aviation industries. Power for any third party device should always be supplied from a fuseable source.

Why you didnt make video on how to replace the rear speakers!
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 8 жыл бұрын
+Gino Veras Rodriguez There are big differences in the process for removing the rear speakers in these Civics. A video showing one would not have covered all models; not even close. The good news is that we supply our MasterSheets for the vehicle when speakers are ordered from us. The MasterSheet outlines the process for removing those speakers so they can be replaced.
