If you've picked up one of the SUS BIkes Sprockets and want to install it yourself, I'll walk you through the steps of doing it at home.
Honestly, this is something you should have your local bike shop do for you or at least have them check your work afterwards. I'll also note that your stock SE Racing Sprocket is strong and will last longer than you will. This is just a vanity upgrade.
I love making my bikes a little more custom so I ordered the SUS Bikes Tattoo Sprocket and walk you through the steps of removing the drive-side crank and sprocket and adding the new SUS Bikes sprocket with the included adapter.

So glad I watched this! I never thought to inspect the "pinch bolt." low and behold, upon checking it out, that thing was loose enough to turn with my fingers. Thanks man, appreciate the videos.

My OM Flyer is geared 39/17. I want to drop my gearing to 36/17 or 39/18-19 for trail/dirt riding. Is it easier to change the sprocket or the cog?

Hey I’m having a problem with my chain I just got the bb rethreaded and the bike shop put my crank on with my brand new se sprocket that I got off line and the bike before had a mountain bike sprocket and crank arm ski changed it back to normal so when I went to put my chain on my sprocket it looks like it’s not sitting in normal it looks like the chains sticking to the sprocket when I had it tightened and when I went to rotate the crank arm it was tough to spin and my chain was making all type of weird noises can anyone point me in the right direction is it that my chains to small? Or is it bc I haven’t greased the chain up just yet ? Idk

Is it safe to use grease for the bolts on the cranks? Or anti seize? Or none at all?
@BigBikeBMX
@BigBikeBMX 3 жыл бұрын
It’s safe and highly recommended. Metal on metal with some grease will stop the random squeaking from cranks. Just do basic maintenance like bolt checks every few rides just to be safe. Once you break in the bike, I tighten anything that came loose and it’s easy stuff after that.

Is there any way to make the big ripper faster? It doesn't look like anything bigger will fit without hitting the frame.

I'd hit up a local bike shop and play with the chainring and freewheel sizes to dial in the biggest gearing you can get. Great question.

What size is the stock spline on the SE. been checking out some sprockets and did notice some have the spacers . I’m sure I’m going to replace my SE sprocket for maybe something like a profile.

This was a tooth-for-tooth swap. 33tooth is the stock big Ripper. I swapped the stock 15tooth freewheel for a 17 to have a more “peppy” feeling for wheelies.

@@BigBikeBMX I currently have a 36t sprocket with a 16t freewheel. Do you think I should keep the 36t sprocket and change to a 17t freewheel for better wheelie?

Could you touch on the benefits of changing your chain wheel size and tooth count pls?
@BigBikeBMX
@BigBikeBMX 4 жыл бұрын
Great suggestion Robert. I’ve got a video planned with my interview partner 80sBMXCraig on this topic. The short answer is lowering the number of teeth on the front or increasing the teeth on the freewheel makes the bike easier to pedal. The easier it is to pedal, the easier it is to push down on the crank and wheelie for example. The downside is that you’ll lower the overall speed of the bike and pedal more to go the same distance.

@@BigBikeBMX Great thanks! I'll look fwd to that video when it comes out. Personal opinion question now, with a Hornet 8 16T freewheel what type spocket would you recommend?

@BigBikeBMX
@BigBikeBMX Ай бұрын
Most bike shops have the “top hat” spacer/washer. Just buy the one that fits your crank spindle and sprocket. Mine was 19mm spindle with 22mm sprocket. Good luck
