How To Install A Throttle And Kickdown Linkage | The Meano Camino

Hey guys, welcome back to our channel where we document our car restoration project! In this episode, we're tackling some important issues with our throttle and kickdown linkages.
We start off by connecting our throttle linkage with a part from Edelbrock. The part number is 8009 - 1977 & Later Chevrolet throttle lever adapter. This goes pretty smoothly and we are using a modified throttle linkage piece on the intake manifold.

Next, we move on to our kickdown linkage. This component is responsible for downshifting the transmission when you need to accelerate quickly, and we cut out kickdown wire so now we have to fix it lol. After some investigation, we came up with a plan by using some cable stops:
Large screw-in cable stops - amzn.to/3mid9sz
Aluminum cable stops - amzn.to/3ZPsIp7
We demonstrate how to realign it to ensure that the kickdown function works as it should.

Y’all are helping me out so much right now you have no idea! Do you know how to identify the wires for the bath and tach terminals on the HEI distributor? I pulled a 4.3L TBI out so it didn’t just have the 2 wires free

@@theroygarage sorry, autocorrect, yes battery and tach. I pulled a 4.3L tbi out of my 85 and am about to drop a 350 in, just need to find those wires and I’ll pretty much be set

@@evanparscale7837 the soups be in the back of your engine bar sticking out of your wire harness. I don’t think it matters which one they get plugged into but if it didn’t fire up try switching them
