If you are not used in silicone around, toilet will be shaken and moved on side to side - one year and leakage. Trust my 25 years experience with installation and repairs. I used silicone all the time on all type of flooring. No silicon - I'll skip this job. I don't want come back after year and reinstall it again.

Great vid. But curious why you didn't just add the wax ring to the flange before you put the toilet on the first time. Why take it off only to tape around again, add the wax ring, then put the toilet back on?

Good question. The fact is that the floors are often not level and you don’t know how stable the toilet will be on your floor. That's why I always place all my toilets on the floor the first time without any gasket. I look at how and where it swings, where there is any gap between the toilet and the floor, so that I can remember, mark, and then when I put it on the gasket, put something in that place so that it never swings about. And be sure to use silicone around it. It is best to use conical tile shims; they are white. But sometimes I just use what I find in my toolbox.

@@FixitAll Good tip. My last install rocked almost as bad as that one. Luckily some silicone around the base was enough to stabilize it. I don't know why so many people are against caulking the toilet, as long as you leave the back open it will be fine.

All the toilets that I have been installing for 27 years have been sealed with silicone to the floor. Three sides. The back of the toilet doesn't matter. Silicone prevents the toilet from swaying and moving. It is thanks to silicone that not a single toilet has leaked in 27 years.

No its never flat, all the toilet in USA has round flange under toilet for center and correct wax ring position or other type of seal gasket installation. So the water drain straight like in the funnel.

Thanks for the video, thinking of getting one of these Swiss Madison toilets. Couple things.... love how you do the tape/silicone/blue caulking tool (I dod the same lol). That little tool allows you to get almost perfect seams. Second, how does it flush? I saw another video and it looks a little weak. Last, I was worried about setting it without seeing the bolts. You seemed to have no problem. I might try to use two Winbags, those little inflatable bags.

Don't really think you should caulk. Won't see leaks and toilets leak. Installed something similar and couldn't even get to the supply line and the back. Had to install first and that seat is a royal pain

Two nuts on flange is not for holding toilet from mowing and shaking. I saw many toilets with problem becouse was sitting only with two nut. You newer guarantee the flange attached to the sub floor firmly. Many flange start shaking after years.

This blue tape protects the tiles from smearing silicone on the floor. Silicone is only needed under the toilet, not around it on floor :-)))
