That install around the window absolutely killed it

Ghe-hehh-tohh! Homeboy looks like my cousin that used to drive a dropped Civic. He lowered the car by cutting the stock springs…with a miter saw and a general purpose 44 tooth saw blade.

I have to say, i don't agree with some of your methods in this video. the way you drill loads of holes into the kitchen cabinets is rather poor shoddy work. I understand that the initial power may have to be run into the cabinet, to house the power transformer, but drilling loads of holes in the sides of the cabinets. Running cables around the window ledge, to another cabinet and drilling into the second cabinet to feed the cable into. If it was me I would run a second set of lights rather than link from the first set. I always like to have the cables hidden. and no drilling holes, why not run cables and power from on top of the cabinets down behind the cabinet to power the strip under the cabinet. this is how i have installed my lights. Power taken from plug socket on top of cabinets, RGB extension cable run down back of cabinet and a connector added to the cable at bottom of cabinet which plugs into RGB strip. Nice and neat with no extra cables on show and no drilling.

That works if a) you have a receptacle on the wall above your cabinets, b) you have a gap between the cabinets and the wall, and c) your cabinets do not go all the way to the ceiling. Most homes I've seen don't have all three conditions so your method won't always work. Mine, for example, has cabinets going all the way to the ceiling and no power above or inside them (such as over a microwave range hood). The method shown in the video is similar to what I would do, except that I would go over the window (My window has a trim overhang that hides wires nicely).

I agree i'd hate to see all those connector blocks and wires when i open my cabinets, i don't think i will be following these instructions.

Looks weird with oak cabinets and the outdated kitchen. Need a modern kitchen with white or grey cabinets for this to look good.

Electrician comment. I would never use this product. Transformer is not UL listed for a reason. Nothing in the National Electric Code allows you install unprotected 120V lines inside a cabinet. Banging and chafing a high voltage line with a pot or pan will hurt you eventually or cause a fire. NEC requires hardwired plugs for all electrical devices.

Sloppy Job! I would have never left the wire showing under cabinets.... I also would’ve mounted a box behind the refrigerator with the power converter and Controllers neat and accessible but more importantly not cluttering cabinet space!

As a contractor, I can say these methods are fine for the do it your selfer types especially since the cabinets are already in place.
@michealvega36953 жыл бұрын
If you had that many pigtails you should of put them in the inside of the cabinet not jump from one cabinet to the next from the bottom where it’s super noticeable lol and the top of the cabinets don’t need them lol just run the full wire and does control receivers could work with one control lol no need to run that much wire on the window hahaha I can’t believe this install your fired

This is hack work I would never drill out my cabinets like that. There has to be some type of wireless system this system looks like it was made in the 80s like the cabinets.
@realisticjman5 жыл бұрын
There are wireless ones they take batteries and they suck if you want it working bright then it has to be wired I've got the batterty type and that's why I'm switching

That is horrible. LED strip should be installed in aluminium profile to act as a heatsink. There are wires visible everywhere and it looks terrible.

If this is a DIY project it's okay! But being a electrician, I find this very unprofessional; drilling holes in a each cabinet, leaving wiring that is shown, is just a shitty job and a finish! It's not that hard to had the wire or work around the window and bends! Just need patience and experience! If a contractor leaves a wire shown in open places, why would someone hire you when they can do the same thing themself!

Not a very good installation. Why drill holes and run the cable on the outside of the cabinet? That double sided sticky tape will not stay attached, really need to clean the area with isopropyl alcohol first. You should not leave the electrical wires exposed when installing a cord cap....the sheathing should up to the inside of the cap where it can be clamped.
