Thanks mate, such an informative video. How come there is no ground/earth wire connected to PIR and light fitting ? Is it possible to replace the PIR unit with a floodlight ? Cheers

Fantastic video as always. I followed your day night for outside. Now I want to do this Diy for my corridor. Is or advisable to put the motion detector with pir ontop of the door frame. With a led light in the centre? (Corridor is 4 m long thus light is in the centre at 2 m). Should I also use a 360 or 180 degree wall motion sensor with day night ??? I appreciate your exceptional videos as always. From Gauteng
@ecologicaltime3 жыл бұрын
thanks. If you put the PIR on top of door frame the light will remain off for a short time when someone walks through the door under the PIR until the person is in view of the PIR. If the PIR is 180 degrees and mounted on the wall, it should pick up from both sides of the corridor as soon as someone walks through the door on each side.

@@ecologicaltime thank you so much, j went ahead and got an O Lite 360 surface mount pir. Works like a charm except the day night...might just be a faulty unit or my wiring . kzbin.info6DOyjSPltAY?feature=share

Hi, i juat brought anew infrared on/off switch.Upon open my bathroom on/off switch found only 1 life and 1neutral wire.. My new infrared switch got input and output life while neutral also had input and output.Could you please help me out on the wiring. Your repky are much appreciated. Thank you very much

in case that i need the switch on option, meaning that i switch on the light manually for a period of time, what do i have to do?
@ecologicaltime4 жыл бұрын
there is an override on some sensors. This one you can adjust the time to longer but does not give full manual control. Others have a manual override. Get one with manual override.
@gsau30004 жыл бұрын
You don't have to tape the entire length of the wire, just the ends.
@meharnisha58893 жыл бұрын
He did that for differentiating the INPUT and OUTPUT of sensor control.

can i use one of these sensors to turn on and off my patio heaters ? thanks
@ecologicaltime3 жыл бұрын
yes as long as your heater wattage is lower than the maximum wattage that the sensor can take. Small heater is fine but high power heater, you will need a more powerful relay inside the sensor
@24zelock3 жыл бұрын
@@ecologicaltime thanks for the reply , my sensor is max 2000w and my heater is 2000w , that be ok ?

@ty10r4 жыл бұрын
Do you know if you can do this on a 3pole switch ?
@ecologicaltime4 жыл бұрын
it can work if you set the switch to the one pole that you are connecting the detector. When you move the switch tot he other pole, the detector will be offline.
@ecologicaltime4 жыл бұрын
if its a high quality and reliable detector, you could bypass the one pole as it will be always on and the detector can be used as the switch going on only when person is in vicinity.

I have sensor which operates at 120VAC 60 Hertz(USA type) and the bulb operates at 220 VAC 50 Hertz(Indian Type),Please suggest me the applicable circuit diagram to install in India.
@ecologicaltime3 жыл бұрын
use only the parts that operate on your supply.

Very odd that the watt rating is different for incandescent and led/fluorescent.
