I'm with you on that! I have a 2000 model that I bought back in 07 or so. I still have it, but having compared it to the original model - it feels like a toy, where the OG feels like a tank. Bought a PSP fat now, so this screen mod is looking lucrative to me too :)

thanks!, the soldering part was a bit tricky but very doable. the display feels a bit more pixelated but on the other hand the stock psp disblay felt kinda blurry. but everything is crisp and bright

@@ferdinanddigan2224 get old electronics and practice doing small soldering points. Just remember to use enough flux and a soldering tip that is small enough. The tricky part can be the solder sticking to the tip when taking it away just make sure it's hot enough

thank you so much. I got your mod to work in a psp-1002. The solder point [@ 4:25 ] moved up a little bit but was on the same pin, and the power cable had to be soldered as the door on psp-1002 does not like 1000 style connector. But still works beautifully it a bit more work. :)

In another video someone puts some metal wire in the soldering point. You just solder over it. Will this work or what do I need to be careful about? Special material? Never soldered before

Both also can, Just try and see which is more easy for you. For point that very nearby I never use any metal wire to connect as I think is more difficult, to solder this 2 points is to connect both if not your display alignment will be not in right place, so Just be careful when soldering and see which is more easy for you, be more patience and when solder on those point don’t hold on one place too long to avoid damage the soldering point

Emm, for this psp 1000 you must short, if not you won't able to get the ips screen to work，it won't show full screen

I just tried this and I think I ripped the pads of the points you need to bridge. Is there another way I can do this or am I screwed? Those two little points are so small and next to other components that I was afraid of pulling off.

It should be the 1001 revision was that the joystick was hard mounted to the case the 1000's across the board are all the same

Yes, even with the other foreign models, there are almost no difference in the motherboard, but there are difference if you have a different model number revision of the motherboard, such as TA-079/TA-081/TA-082/TA-086

solder a jumper wire, let you adjust the screen Y position, (vertical screen stretch) to fit the ips screen display, if you don't solder it, your screen will look stretched in vertical position, there was another video, somewhere, that someone didn't solder a jumper wire nearby the screen connector, while installing the IPS screen, and its display got stretched

The soldering part is a pain in the ass as my hands are giant. I might need to get some kind of magnifying glass with a light to do this sort of thing. Didn't succeed with the soldering although it looks like I did.

As far as I understand, going for 1000 brightness is the best choice. But can you adjust brightness with the appropriate button on the PSP ? Otherwise, playing in the dark might be tough :)

I find that having a PSP handy it's better: you can have a dedicated system for psp and psx roms, while dedicating the Vita to its own library. Having more space free on the Vita means more games!
