Hey! Really appreciate this video, your tutorials are so helpful. I’m still so new to PC building and most videos on this subject talk to you as if you’re already an expert, like no, that’s why I’m here. I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions for me please: I’ve just bought an SSD to upgrade my existing PC and I was intending to install windows on it. 1.) Do I need to back-up my files on my existing hard drive, or would they still be present after I install windows on the new drive? 2.) Would you ever recommend one of those programs that ‘clone’ the drive and basically do the install for you? Eg Seagate As it’s my first time doing any of this, I don’t want to cut corners with anything, but I also don’t want to do anything wrong. Thank you so much for the help!

Awesome my friend, so very happy I could help you and you enjoy my videos. Yeah, we all started off not knowing anything, so there is no reason to mae myself sound intelligent, I am an idiot, I am just really good at this and I want to help you and everyone be good at this and more, sharing knowledge is great for everyone, so there is no reason for me to make you feel stupid, so happy you like the way I pass on my knowledge. I don't want you to make me feel stupid when you teach me something I don't know, so I try the same. 1. To your questions, you don't need to back up the files on the drive you are not going to install on to, but I do HIGHLY recommend you disconnect that drive during this process, so that you don't delete the information by mistake, that would be horrible, and don't worry, the reason I am recommending this to you,... if because I have done it myself. 2. As for cloning, I NEVER recommend it, all the issues you have with your current drive, or issues you don't know you have will now be on that new drive.... and who wants issues right? There is nothing better than a clean install of windows, so smooth, so fast, everything works Now, just because I recommend something, doesn't necessarily mean thats what you want, but if you wanted to clone your drive to this new drive, you can, and I made a video showing you how to do it,... but again, I recommend a clean install, but here you can find that video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oovOpah8etKFrLc Always a pleasure my friend, please do let me know if you need anything else. Please also make sure to share this video and any other video I have (I have about 400 videos) that you find useful with your friends. On another note, If you have to update your EUFI/Bios remember to set it back to NVME instead of legacy, I forgot that flashing the BIOS put everything back to default. I'm sure allot of people still have a duel EUFI/BIOS, and NVME drives won't boot legacy only EUFI. Iggy, Thanks for speaking at what I'll say is a comprehendible speed at least for me being "old". I definitely learned about installing an M.2 SSD, and setting it up in the system. It was wonderful to not feel like I was drinking from a fire hose, as several other channels seem to pace their information delivery to rival the speed achieved by the newest motherboards.😉 It's been well over a decade since I did a custom build. After many years of using laptops only, it's exciting to get back to quality and intimacy I'm feeling by building my own PC. I will be checking out a lot more of your content. Thank you.

Years ago, i would watch videos and people would talk all techy to make themselves sound smart, always upset me. I don't think I am the smartest, but I am ok with that so I dont need to make myself sound smart, I want to make videos that make people feel comfortable in doing their own thing, not paying people to do it, and I am SOOOO very happy I could help you my friend. Do you have any specs in mind?
@petewoodhead527 ай бұрын
@@ThisBytesForYou Yes, I do have some specs in mind at this point. I'll give you those, before I give you some history. That way you can skip the history.🤣 I'm looking at using a Rysen 7800x3d CPU with an Nvidia RTX 4080Super GPU. I'm researching MBs (ATX, 650 or above, at least a couple M.2, NVMe bays, PCIe5, Lots of high power USBs, usb-c4 ports, decent Audio system, ALC 1220 to ALC 4080), SSDs (I'm thinking 2TB, possibly 2 ssds 1tb each, NVMe,M.2), Ram (DDR5, at least 32Gb, 2 - 16GB Dimms), AIO liquid cooling, and cases, but I'm narrowing it down. I'm wanting to future proof a bit. I'd Like the computer to run as quiet as possible. I've got to admit that I do like the whole RGB thing. I'm not above wanting to style a little. 😉 I really haven't even looked at monitors yet, but I know the computer I'm building will support something pretty nice. Headphones, Mouse and Keyboard. Also, under research. I'm not a kid, as a matter of fact I'm comfortably retired. I say this, because, while I never like to waste money, I am able to spend what I need to for what I want on this PC. I just want to buy quality components that work with each other. So, I enjoy woodworking and also have interests in Electronics and I'm rebuilding our AIrstream Trailer. I say this because I enjoy building and rendering models in Sketchup of my projects to help me visualize them before building them. Rambling, I will probably buy a 3D printer at some point this year. My laptop a Dell Precision M4600 is very old and stuff like some of my USB ports on one side no longer work. My i7 CPU came out in 2011. My 500GB HD is not full, but sata and mechanical. So, nothing super fast about this old workhorse. But it's gotten the job done for a long time. My sketchup models are rendering very slowly now. Even though I have pretty good internet I get lag in my KZbin videos after I've been running a bit, causing me to restart my laptop. I'm also interested in getting back into some gaming. Way more than you asked, so if you made it to this point, I'm truly sorry. 🤣
@ThisBytesForYou7 ай бұрын
Looks like I will be building a similar system soon, depending on what some partners state, it will be my workstation. So you want a board that supports the Ryzen 7800x3D, what is your price range. Future proof is a myth, you can get a few years in there though. If you let me know your price range I can spec up the perfect machine, I would use Amazon affiliate links to help me out, but it won't make anything more expensive, but I would get a few pennies haha. Quiet is difficult, but not impossible. The 7800 is a nice CPU, but it gets hot and liquid cooling can get loud, the 4080 too, but if you have good low ambient cooling, that will help noise levels a ton. I envy you and your retirement, I probably have another 30 years, but my body is falling apart, I have so many surgeries and accidents, its just pain all the time, I would love to retire one day (I hope comfortably as well) and game. I am so VERY happy for you my friend, that is awesome. That's awesome, I was an IT Manager for an industrial automation company, we designed machines to help simplify things for companies. I would setup machines for my engineers utilizing Solidworks and AutoCAD Mechanical and Electrical, I was so fascinated by all they designed and built, from the ground up, I thought it was so awesome, you are doing the same, that is some great stuff. 3D Printers are amazing and you WILL LOVE IT, make sure you buy one that can also do metal, you will be able to do it all. with that 4080 SketchUp will fly since it utilizes Hardware acceleration and NVIDIA is tops with that, wish you lived in Richmond, I would be happy to build it for you although, it sounds like you would prefer to do it, and that is great. I never shy away from a conversation on here, I love it to learn my viewers and friends, I have a few on here that we chat often, but it can get hard since I am always recording, wish I could quit my job and do this full time, but I dont make enough here yet, maybe one day.

Keep in mind that I'm just now immersing myself in computer technology after probably a 20 year hiatus. Also know that I'm more than happy to go through your portal to Amazon for my purchases so I can support you. The MBs that I've been looking at are mainly made by Asus, MIS and Gigabyte. I'm pretty sure I'd prefer one with a good VRM heat sink around the CPU. Here's the an ASIS ROG STRIX MB and 7 7800x3D bundle. Here's the memory that was recommended for it (G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL30-38-38-96 1.35V Desktop Computer Memory UDIMM - Matte Black (F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR) a.co/d/23B5rRO) also comes in white. Do you feel 32GB is a good starting place? Here's the suggested NVMe SSD link (Help me decide on this product: SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 Gaming M.2 Internal Solid State Drive Memory Card , Maximum Speed, Thermal Control MZ-V8P2T0B/AM a.co/d/ff04KUI) Do you feel 2tb is a good starting point? I don't keep a lot on my drive, but with this new machine I'll probably get back into some gaming. On the RTX 4080 SUPER, I'm seeing crazy pricing ranges, from like $999.99 to $1538.99. while it looks like some include rgb and some don't, the price swing is crazy. As for the case, I have something in mind, but I didn't have them at my finger tips at the moment. My priority is excellent ventilation and build quality. I'll try and get you some links, but I'm very open to suggestions. I haven't figure out the PSU. At this point I'm not even sure what size I need. The same goes for fans, I've read that bigger fans (180 to 200 mm) move more air and are quieter. As for AIO liquid cooling pumps, I just know I'm looking for good quality and as quiet as possible.
