What about the trailer brakes. Are they disconnected too?

Nice location for the switch. I’ve been sitting here thinking about where to hook mine up. You helped me a lot. Think it will work the same with 2 12 volt batteries? I’m guessing it should

Yes it should if you have both batteries wired parallel together.
