Is there a right way for the washers so that it is flat against unit?

The outside of the tank instructions is simple but Its confusing looking inside of the tank. My inside of the tank looks like the outside of the tank gaskets. But your tutorial isn't the same. It's different looking. My tank is leaking around the hole opening and the complete spigot turns freely. I tried tightening it by hand as tight as it would go but couldn't get it any tighter and you warned not to do it too tight. I'm not sure how the gaskets go flush to the inside tank, it's confusing. Please show a more detailed picture. Could this be a faulty spigot?

I’m setting mine up right now and the ss spigot wobbles, hence going to KZbin and seeing what I’m doing wrong. Looks like similar problems. I’ve tightened it as much as I can with just my hands, but the contact is not looking secure when I move the spigot handle to open water flow. I guess I will see if it leaks … if so,, I will return and just use the black spigot, which i didn’t want since I purchased the stainless steel one.

These installation videos are a must because the instructions are WRONG about the direction to place the washer covers! Bad. Berkey needs to proof read stuff before publishing!

Yes I also want to know why it doesn’t tighten? It still moves around. Plus my Berkey is leaking slowly and I am trying to figure out why? New to this system and want it to work properly, after all it is quite expensive to be leaking:(

Sorry to hear about this. I've always been able to tighten mine and have never experienced leaking. So the hex nut on the spigot goes on but it won't tighten? Which do you suspect to be defective? The hex nut or the threading on the spigot? Once you know that then please contact the Authorized Berkey Dealer you purchased from and they can send you a new part. Again, I'm sorry for the leaking issue.

I am doing this for the first time also, but I doubt the spigot itself is leaking. They do not discuss this but I tried to simultaneously push from inside and outside so the two silicone pieces are pressed together as much as possible, while simultaneously tightening down the nut with my inside hand. I mean, it seems to me that is going to be a leak point if those squishy pieces are not fully sealed against the steel, inside and outside.

Same. I just got my new stainless steel spigot and the silicone pieces are the problem it seems. I will keep working at it but if it continues to leak I will be sending it back.

somewhere i read online, and this is what i ultimately had to do and it worked: tighten as much as i could by hand but end up with with spigot pointing "east", then, with a clean wrench holding the nut in place, turn the spigot by hand down to the proper position. this is the way to get those silicone pieces tight enough to stop leaking.

My stainless steel spigot is dripping from the opening (where the water is supposed to come out) even when the valve is completely closed...having a hard time finding a fix for it.

If it's leaking from the actual opening then you might need a replacement. If it's been under a year you may be eligible for a warranty replacement.

Both were included with mine but I don't like plastic, for me it won't work. Please show how to do the inside of the tank installation including the gaskets placement inside of the tank

I just setup my Big Berkey and installed the stainless steel spigot. No flow whatsoever. Any hints or steps to take to remedy this?

Lightly scrub the black elements with clean, green pad. Then re-prime them making sure the water does indeed "bead" out of the elements. Try that and let me know how it filters after that.

Really?? As a senior citizen living on a fixed income, I paid (what is for me) a small fortune for the "travel" berkey. I had no idea I'd have to spend more money (after having spent money I didn't have to spend in the first place) to acquire what should have come with the unit-- a working spigot that does not leak when attached to the unit. I made the tough decision to purchase the Berkey because of all the scary news here in NC about the "forever chemicals" that have been found in the water. I KNOW how to install a simple spigot. There is clearly a defect in the spigot or the washers I've received, I don't know which. I'm thoroughly frustrated. The only thing that prevents me from sending the machine back is the wonderful taste of the water. If there's anything you can do to help me out, I'd appreciate it.

I'm sorry you're experiencing a leak near the spigot. Please contact the Authorized Berkey dealer you purchased from and ask them to help you with the warranty process.
