Depends on how the settings are in your VM machine though it is possible in VMware settings to manually connect the iPhone or device directly to the VM itself.

when I use this method my phone gets half way into the booting stage (sometimes I will see the jailbreak installing) but then it crashes and goes back into a bootloop how do I fix this ? I need to remain on ios 12.4 so I cannot restore/update I followed the steps here but everytime it installs half way, the begins bootlooping again I can get my device into recovery mode but thats it
