How to Install Daggerfall Unity + Installing Mods (D.R.E.A.M)

I've always been terrified to try to manually install mods for any game because it seemed overwhelming and I figured, knowing me, I'd break something and have no idea how to fix it and break it even worse trying to fix it. Idk if manually modding other games is just as easy as this but, Jesus, this was extremely simple and straightforward. Very excited to finally mod, arguably my favorite ES game and the only other one I've actually beaten, besides Skyrim.

I've been an elderscrolls fan since playing oblivion at 12 fps with pink water and pink lava so it didn't crash. Now as an adult getting to go back and experience games like daggerfall (then morrowind next) has been something I wish'd I could do. The github page made all this seem way more confusing than it should've been and your video was the security I needed to make sure I did everything in the right order. If modding tutorials for New Vegas and Morrowind were this straight forward I probably would've started with those lmao. Thank you for doing what youtube was invented for. Quality information.

This is an amazing walkthrough, thank you, although I"m stuck on Nexus mods. I logged in then went to the daggerfall unity files and clicked on the Dream mod and it says I need to log in to download. When I go to log in again, it says "error, you are already logged in." Not sure what to do here because as soon as i leave my account page and go back to daggerfall it says I"m logged out again.

I'm trying to download DREAM, but it, as well as a few other mods, don't seem to be downloading right. When I hit manual download, the only thing that Chrome downloads is the RAR file. It doesn't come in a folder at all, just a file. Do you know why this may be? Thank you!

Right click the rar file and extract it. The files inside will be the files used in the video. If the rar file that you downloaded is empty then you’ll have to contact the mod author.

On your steam menu, bottom left is an "add game" button. From here you click "add non steam game" and select your DFU.exe

Does Vortex work in properly putting the mods in the right place? Vortex has daggerfall unity support but i havent seen any videos showing people using Vortex

I have never used vortex for DF Unity but I was also unaware that it had support. What makes it things funky when nodding DF Unity is the fact that it’s using two separate game directories. I may troubleshoot with vortex and get back to you.

When I open Daggerfall Unity and try to set the path, I get to the common folder and it's empty. Any idea why this is?

Check your directory and make sure Daggerfall(steam) is installed there. If it is just copy and paste the file path.

I have my daggerfall from steam installed on a seagate external hard drive will that cause problems with mods?

No it should be fine as long as you correctly link the two folders.
