Hi Hilton my xf looks great now back on the road but forgot to tell you that last year had engine remapped now have 340 bhp also had some red and black stripes on the doors and the word jaguar put on the back pillers and jaguar on the bonnet and my car is all white

Looks great, gutted about the clip though. I'd have dremmelled the inside a bit to make it easier to fit. Hindsight is a wonderful thing huh?

Yeah, I actually filed it on the edge but it didn't help. The baking process once the carbon fiber is put on the housing must have shrunk the covers a bit.

Oh dear what a bummer mate , that would annoy the heck out of me to as your very particular with your mods like myself . Hope you get some luck with the suppliers . As for the look I think it looks nice on a car your colour but mines a dark metallic green so not so sure if I’d do it , and watching you wrestle the damn thing I’d be nervous 🤣 cheers 👍

Q. have you considered carbon fiber wrap, my experience of after market parts (especialy carbon fiber) is that they never fit properly and cause a heap of hurt. I'm about to embark on wrapping the lower fins on my side vents, they are chrome at the moment and I want to de-chrome my XF. Love the boot spoiler, now I'll go for the carbon fiber look, it suits the car. Apologies about the pimp mobile comment with the ambient lighting, It just didn't work for me, and your right.. each to their own. Looking forward to your next installment.

Thanks Anthony. I didn't see that comment on my ambient lighting, but like you said, each to their own. It looks brighter on the pictures because I exposed the pic quite a bit to show the effect but it's not that bright really.

How did you make those drm leds blinking on the headlights like that? very hot! the long white ones i mean. or its the camera which makes them flashing like that ?

It's the frame rate of the camera that does that 😉

Did you check the settings on your infotainment system under vehicle settings? It could be it is now set to not open automatically.

Looking awesome! I wanted to see them fitted and in use before ordering mine and now I definitely will order them. On my older XF, I do have LED bulbs fitted to the mirror (I don't think they are canbus) and I don't get any errors.

Hey. I ad an issue once with FedEx and then got my sellers to use DHL instead. They are brilliant. They will and you how much import duties need to be paid and once paid deliver promptly. Sometimes they don't ask for import duties but they sort it all out before the item even arrives in SA. FedEx held my parcel for over a month because they didn't get an invoice from the seller when shipping it and then asked me for a copy of my credit card statement which I refused as well as proof of the order on AliExpress. The seller under declared the value so they fined me an additional R500 which I claimed from the seller in a dispute because I have no control over what he declares to customs.

Hey Hilton I was just looking at a few of your videos to get some ideas for my car and I noticed on this video , do you think that if you would have used your heat gun to try to stretch or soften up that mirror cover it would have gotten on easily???

Hey friend, no. I tried that and it made no difference. It was heat in the first place that made them warp to the point that they did not fit properly. I ended up spraying the original ones gloss black. The Carbon Fiber process requires the mirror covers to baked and I suspect that shrunk them as the carbon fiber shrinks onto the mirror cover.

I am also very interesting to know if this is doable on an X250. My other car, a Skoda Superb II 3T5 of 2014 has been upgraded with dynamic turn signal and this is a world of difference in safety as they really draw attention. Especally when driving North (Netherlands) where winter is long and days are pretty short. Thus most of the time not much of a light outside.

I too did the same mod as you, but fitted black mirror caps instead. I think my caps are OEM and not aftermarket like yours, so I reckon that's where your problem is. However I did manage to break that inside clip on one mirror but found that if you can still get the inside edge to almost be flush with the mirror stalk then with a bit of shoving it fits ok. If you can get that flush then the cap is safely held on by the mirror surround. Bugger of a job though!!

Hey Mike, yeah, those black caps look stunning as well. I considered them, but Jaguar wanted a small fortune for them so I opted for carbon fiber. The problem is, when they apply the carbon fiber to the housing, they have to heat it up and the carbon fiber shrinks and molds to it which causes it to deform slightly. So the inside part of the mirror by the window bends in quite a bit and keeps popping out even if I shove it in. The seller is not interested in helping me, so I may take a heat gun and heat the inner part to bend it out a little to allow it to fit more flush.

Hey John. Removing the mirror covers for the first time is difficult because they're stuck on there pretty good. Putting them back on is fairly easy because these carbon fiber covers I fitted were a bit smaller than OEM because of the heating process when glueing the carbon fiber to the covers. I did some videos previously on how to remove the covers. If you go to my channel and search in videos for mirror you will find the videos easily.

I feel your pain with the broken clip having done the same fitting the dynamic indicators. I also had fitment issues with the indicators themselves being unable to get them under the clip you show. I thought at the time this might have contributed to breaking the clip as it is a very exact fit. Your video prompted me to go and check whether it was still secure and it lifted straight away from the front. Keep an eye on yours. I think I may get the glue gun out and see if can badge it.

@@carfanfan I followed the link to the item and saw that you had uploaded some photos. To me the gap between the two mirror parts looked about twice what it should be. Possibly not home all the way ? Hopefully I won't need to open the mirrors again so happy to dab some glue on

Thanks Smiley - the hard work is actually filming and editing, but working on my car is always fun time for me. I love it and enjoy it.
