Dude! Thanks again. I found the diagram in the middle of a 48-page installation manual (for Eberspächer trained professional installers only.)

Thanks for the reply and the link. You guys rock! The holes for the Espar are the first ones I’ve cut into my new van. Kinda scary. But I figured that if I botched it completely, at least it’s hidden under a seat.

The first cuts are always the scariest! We probably should’ve started with something hidden instead of our first cuts being our ceiling for our Maxxair fan and window on our sliding door (on the same day 😅)

Great video In your opinion is the 2KW sufficient in that van? How would it be in freezing weather at a ski resort?Debating on that or the 4Kw version Thanks
@itstimetocrunchАй бұрын
We’ve only had a few colder nights so far, but… when the outside temp was around 32F, the internal van temp rose from 52F to 58F over 30minutes. Which is okay, but could be underwhelming to some. Since you’re expecting to be in colder climates, if you have the means, it’s probably worthwhile to go with the 4kw even if just for the piece of mind. Rounding up the 2kw variant to consuming about 1gal/24hr, I would assume the 4kw has similar efficiency and would use 2gal/24hr and heat up twice as fast. Please still fact check this!

Great video. You helped me out a lot. One thing, you got a diagram with your AS3. I did not. But you said you downloaded a diagram and you had some information about routing exhaust/intake air/fuel. Where did you find that information/diagram. I’ve been stumped.

Glad you found this helpful! The diagram I followed is on page 11. The info on how to route things is kind of riddled throughout the manual unfortunately. www.butlertechnik.com/downloads/cms/eberspacher-espar-airtronic-s3-d2l-b2l-technical-description-manual.pdf?srsltid=AfmBOoqhWsoO5B5tAFciFsF-T0NkAYaP4XPQ3SiDLq680ZoCDgsa7X5N

Great video! Do you know how many amps this draws on startup? I have a very simple build and use a Goal Zero Yeti 500x for my electrical. It has a 10a internal fuse and I couldn’t startup a friend’s B4L the last time I tried.
@itstimetocrunchКүн бұрын
From the manual B4L, B2L, and D2L start up is 105W, 80W and 90W respectively at 12V. Theoretically they should all work with a 10A fuse, but I could see the B4L popping the fuse if the power station had low battery and/or related to voltage drop

I appreciate the realistic presentation of all the wrestling it took to install. Beats the "Just click this together, drill a hole and bolt it in" promos. I was surprised there isn't an adapter for the aux. fuel attachment available. I want to install the B4L, (Canada, gets unreal cold) but I'm not sure the larger heater will fit under the seat in a Promaster.

Thank you! There is an adapter but it wasn’t manufacturer recommended due to the diameter of the connecting tube that drops into the tank. The best advice I have is to check your van’s forum. It has been invaluable for us!

That was a lot of work but great install but I would feel more comfortable if you would run the exhaust to behind the driver side away from the side door in the back. Less chance of getting Carmen dioxide in the van when you're camping. Could also get a trim piece by VEPURLT that's Stainless Steel 316 Thru Hull Exhaust Skin, 24mm Tube Pipe Socket Hardware for Diesel heaters Exhaust Pipe. But yeah great job but go the extra mile on this one for your safety. 👍👍

Thank you! It’s kind of a calculated risk, but we don’t plan to run the heater with the door open. I believe there is also some constraints with the length of exhaust pipe recommended which conflicts with running it over to the driver side. Even without the heater, all mobile homes should have a CO and smoke alarm!

@@itstimetocrunchjust hope the door doesn't leak any. But you always have the detector I guess. I've never done a van built but plan to in the future. I'm going to copy a lot of the stuff you done. 😁
