I commend you for putting so much effort into making this and protecting your chickens from ground predators.I cringe every time I see a run out of chicken wire because it only traps them.

❤ you are the one! Finally a video I understand so I can protect my flock! I lost 6 chickens in 3 days...I have the M120...! It was free...brand new in the box ... With this info I can go to the store and get wire and insulators and secure my chickens! Thank you for sharing this!

You’re so welcome!! Good luck keeping the predators out! Go 3 lines, one low to the ground, about 15” up then we did ours about 2.5” up or so. Play with the heights for what predator you think you’re dealing with.

I bought what fish and game suggested.. poly wire, though? And poly tape. And only one foot six foot copper rod. Do I need three? I think your video is very helpful for me doing it myself now though! I’m going to go buy the wire instead with wood posts. But is one rod ok? Thank you for your video!! 🥰

This was very helpful and gives me some perspective with different ideas on what I may want to do around my farm for livestock safety. Thankyou for sharing with us in detail, very much appreciated : )

I’m at my last straw…we’ve lost 7 chickens this week, it’s either a raccoon or a bobcat, we live in North Carolina, we completely button up the pin now no holes but found another dead chicken this morning , so I believe it’s time for a little voltage, we have coyote’s also but there’s no way they can get in, raccoons are extremely smart I think they can program a compute, possibly a weasel but I ain’t scene one of those ever in my area, they’re are some mink but I don’t think they can eat a whole chicken plus what ever is getting them can carry a 5 lbs chicken . Good luck and thanks for the video !

Tim, I’m so sorry. Weasel can get through a hole the size of a quarter. Raccoon can open doors, so we use carabiners to secure all locks. The Gallagher M120 is worth every Penny. Do 3 lines, first line about 8” off the ground, 2nd line around 15” and 3rd line about 24-30” off the ground. Good luck.

@@susanc44I’m so sorry! Were you you able to install electric fencing?
@susanc44Ай бұрын
Yes! And I’m so appreciative you made your video, because that is what helped me put up my fence!!! And I’ve shared it to others cuz it’s the season now in NH for bears invading coops!😞

Lis the chicken wire/mesh electrified or just the 3 lines?
@rustymoosefarmАй бұрын
The hardware mesh is not electrified, only the 3 lines are hot. What other questions do you have?
@Songer80 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the informative tour. Does it use a lot of electricity? Or does it use electricity only when it zaps something?
@slrs3908 Жыл бұрын
It uses VERY little electricity. Even when it grounds out a predator and zaps something at 7500 volts, there is almost no amperage (which is what kills things), and very little actual power being used. Power (wattage) is volts x amps. 7500 volts times almost nothing is very little...and that is only when it grounds out.
@rustymoosefarm Жыл бұрын
It’s always running voltage through it. Our electric bill has gone up minimally. Worth the cost for peace of mind with our wide variety of predators here in the forest.

Any issues using an extension cord? Our manual says do not plug into a extension cord
@Yeshuaschosen11 ай бұрын
Buy an outdoor extension cord 10 or 12 gauge the thicker the better. @@AKASSASSIN10

It's better to use insulated wire for electric fence grounding,
@Yeshuaschosen Жыл бұрын
I purchased double insulated 12 1/2 gauge wire rated at 20,000 volts to connect my energizer to the fence.Better safe than sorry!
