I just moved into a new home and wanted to replace my knob with a nice pull. This was very helpful if for no other reason than to prove my logic was sound. I used a level on the outer lines of the hole, and found the center point of the knob hole and then used the level to find the place for the lower hole. For whatever reason, Schlage does not have a template, they have measurements but that only worked if the original knob was installed with those measurements, which in my case they were not... HUGE THANK YOU!!!

This is the best, very detailed video. i was nervous about installing new handle until i found this video. the part where using a smaller 5/16 drill bit was a life saver. my instructions called for a 3/8 which would have been way to big. the part about the masking tape to center was genius, i followed your video step by step and my handle came out perfect and level. thank you for being so detailed and step by step instructions !! it gave me confidence to do this task !

You come the closest I've found to solving my problem - but not quite solved! At minute 12:39-12:52 you describe installation of the "decorative button on the bottom - put it so the notch goes toward the bottom so if you ever have to take the the knob off." On my door, the bottom bolt is loose. Turning the button has no effect, so I want to remove the decorative button and re-screw the bolt. BUT... there is no notch in the decorative button. I can't figure out how to get the button off, or otherwise find a way to tighten the bottom bolt. Any ideas how to fix this out there?

When I bought my home, I wanted to change the door handle. It was my first DIY project on my new home and helped me get tools. The old door handle had already drilled hole for the bottom so very easy to change out with the new one. Also, I’m surprised the bottom peg is adjustable on that Kwikset 🤯 That’s cool! the itnerior door handle is the wrong one. its supposed to look like hair blowing in the wind. but other than that, i like these instructional videos for what many consider "easy" projects cause i was once new to fixing things and videos like these would have helped me tremendously. you are a saint. love your stuff. looking forward to the future

Doesnt the bevel need to go on the inside? Its so easy to pop a lock open by pushing on the bevel

your door would not shut if the bevel was flipped to the inside

First step would to be 1) Remove the door, quickly followed by 2) Sand and repaint.
