I hope I can somehow get all this to work on my…Windows 10 laptop. Just being able to turn off the “bloody annoying” auto power off would be well worth watching this vid! Adding more effects and oscillators is always tantalizing: haven’t figured out how to use a MIDI keyboard with the NTS-1 yet (that ribbon keyboard is fine if you have fingers the size of a lemur’s 😄), but I’ve so far found it quite a nice effects “pedal” for my Microfreak! 😀👍🏼👍🏼
@ChrisLodyMusic Жыл бұрын
Yes unfortunately the app doesn't work well, I think it may be down to the drivers which are awful too. I'm not the best place to help with that as I don't really know how to fix it. I ended up taking the drivers off after a while. You don't need the app to disable auto power off though (why would they add that when there's no battery 🤷). To do that hold reverb while powering on, turn the Type knob until you see SLP (sleep) then turn the B knob from 1 to 0. Then press the Arp button and it will save and restart. You can find more info about this in the Global section of the ridiculous folding map of a manual.

Super helpful video, excellent explanation thx so much! One stupid question: how does the looper work? Is there a start stop function. I can‘t figure this thing out
@ChrisLodyMusic4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. That's quite a difficult question to answer without doing a tutorial. It's not a true looper, more an arpeggiator that plays a predetermined set of notes depending on what input it receives. Try holding down the Arp button for a few seconds and the display with say Latch, then hit a note on the keyboard and it will play an arpeggio. Holding Arp and pressing one of the other buttons will change the chord type. Holding Arp and tweaking the knobs will change the areggiator type, number of notes looped and the speed respectively. Pressing Arp briefly again will stop the loop. Hope that's enough to help

Is there anyway we could get a Massive wavetable to the NTS1?
@ChrisLodyMusic3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure to be honest. I'm not a coder but I think the memory size available to use for custom oscillators might be the biggest barrier to getting a wavetable running on it
@farticusmaximusOG3 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisLodyMusic True. I've been converting .wavs' to Nts format and you only have 16384 bytes to store anything (including the sample)
@ChrisLodyMusic3 жыл бұрын
I suppose then if the wave table was super lofi it'd be possible. Like if you used Gameboy LSDJ resolution, which I think is 4bit 32 samples per waveform, you'd be able to do something interesting. That would give you enough room to have a few wave tables actually

Do you know if you can you MIDI sync it when used as an FX unit?
@ChrisLodyMusic4 жыл бұрын
By sending midi CCs to the various effects parameters do you mean? Yeah that should be possible, that would be quick a cool thing for me to try in a jam to test it out
@emanuelburduja94 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisLodyMusicWhat I had in mind was more like using MIDI clock to have the delay synced to the external audio. I think Eventide H series and other similar top tier effects pedals have that feature.
@ChrisLodyMusic4 жыл бұрын
I just had a quick go at the because I wasn't sure if it supports it, it doesn't. Certainly not for the standard delay because turning the time control doesn't display anything other than 'time'. Even with a sync signal running into it, it isn't audibly snapping to intervals or anything. So it's a no unfortunately
@emanuelburduja94 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisLodyMusic Yeah, I was afraid it wouldn't. Still a great little box of wonders, even more so if you consider the price. Thanks for the fast response and I hope to see more jams and tests featuring it.

Even though Korg state the v1.03 updater is available, i can't find it anywhere on either the Korg site, or on the web. I followed your video to the letter for downloading the various free patches (mist.mnlgxdunit) but all i get in my download folder is a document file, it isn't the mist.mnlgxdunit file as shown in your footage. Maybe it's different for Mac?
@ChrisLodyMusic4 жыл бұрын
The latest update is v1.20 so you should skip the others and use that one. Here's the link for Mac www.korg.com/us/support/download/software/0/832/4459/ As for the files for oscillators etc you should be able to find something ending 'unit' somewhere but it's up to the developer how they distribute the files so each one you try will likely be different
@georgekempson6704 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisLodyMusic Thanks for the swift reply Chris. It seems i'm on v1.20 and it's saying i'm up to date but i'm a touch confused about Korg releasing v1.03 but it doesn't seem to be out there. I thought v1.03 was the update for disabling the sleep mode but again, after a search on the net i found how to disable it, so all is good on that part. As i mentioned in my previous comment, i did download the "mist.mnlgxdunit" file but for some odd reason, when i checked my download folder, it was just a text file. Anyway, i'll have another go tomorrow and see how i get on. Thanks again.
@ChrisLodyMusic4 жыл бұрын
Perhaps that is just down to the way that Mac OS interprets unknown file types, I don't use Mac so I'm not sure. Maybe try grabbing a few different freebies from a few other developers and see if they're any different. Hopefully that'll help
