Great video... I just bought a Commander an I'm interested in adding DVD headrests for the kids. I was going to modify my existing headrests but the headrest poles arent hollow and very thin.. how can I change the seat to accept a thicker headrest pole that is hollow for the wires?

Simply connect the yellow, red and white avi cables together. Once they are connected select avi 1 or avi to on the secondary unit.

How would you connect those monitors to a double din head unit

You would run your Abu cables from your double din that say "av out" to the 3 connectors he showed that were female leads. Red white and yellow.

Most new cars cut the power to the lighter when you shut the car off. That is how I got 2 of my monitors hooked up. If you have an older car just buy a switch for like a few bucks to turn the power off.

Always use a test light to select a proper fuse or wire for splicing into power. For newer cars the ideal power source would be a delayed power lead, this means when you shut the car off the power stays on until you open your doors, whenever possible use this. If you can't find that power source find one that shuts off your test light when you turn the car off. Hope that helps.

this works with most cars but now with all. it won't work with my Volvo V50 for example. and this is due to the fact that the cylinder inside the seat (where you insert the head-rest bars, is closed at the bottom. so you can't run a wire/cable through it. if anyone has a solution for this, please let me know.

So what happens in a crash. Will the monitor get ripped from the headrest and smack someone in the head? Will the headrest tubes break and the driver break his/her neck?

Once you hook the monitors to the cigarette lighter can you still use that cigarette lighter or Will it overload the circuit and do you hook both monitors to the same cigarette lighter or one each because my vehicle also has two cigarette lighters

I'm sure it would over load the circuit since most of them only hold a 10 amp fuse. I would use the 2nd one or find another 12v switched wire to run them to.

Yeah, I would advise running a dedicated wire from a sufficient source. Tapping into the cigarette lighter outlet that you undoubtedly also use to charge multiple phones and power other accessories from is not a good idea. I'm sure these monitors don't pull large amounts of current but the wiring run to the lighter is usually tiny. I'd recommend that if you're going to tap into another line you find a switched source from one of the fuse boxes and install an inline fuse between there and the monitors also. Surely the internet has info for your specific vehicle on what would be safe to tap into. After all the monitors won't do your passengers (likely your kids) any good if the vehicle catches fire. Better safe than sorry.
