you don't need to drill any holes. on the fender take a round file and file the bottom hole about 1/16th lower then take a 3/16th chainsaw file and file the two smaller top holes out to the edge of the slot in the fender and down the thickness of the file and you will have a latch that sits flush with the fender and is perfectly located. no need to do anything with the holes on the hood unless it's aftermarket or unusual in some way. filing is a quicker,easier and better way.

QuickGearVids Thanks 🙏. Glad you in joy the videos. Yeah the boys come and go in most of my videos lol. Some times I can edit it out most of the time I can’t. lol They always wanna help or hold the camera. Sometimes I have to pretend we are fixing stuff and do a dry run so they feel like they are helping. One day I hope to have them doing projects with me.

@10:49 no no the jl letches Towing really good if you got that Gap still.. Go with any other company. I got those Rugged Ridge lashes they're pretty good.. and for a kicker it's a pain in the ass.. but in a way it's worth it. once you have the Rugged Ridge latches. tighten it down that you won't be able to open. And when you need to opened it just loosen it with the wrench.. I don't know.. Just trying to help out Jeeper or any other Jeepers that are reading this..

KENNY J I was gonna go with a rugged ridge with a pin long time ago. But as soon as I was gonna buy. Someone posted that there hood came up bc the pins made there way loos and flopped on there windshield and I was like oh sh!Z. But the JL latches are not for everyone. You do have to cut holes to make them work. There are just as good latches out there that are bolt on no hassle. I was just going against the grain and cutting my Jeep up and installing JL HOOD latches. They do work and I have no hood flutter. And have yet to have one problem with them. I get asked a lot about them and or did I install a JL HOOD?????? WHAT?????? People are like what did you do!!!!!!!! Anyway either way you go get some good after market hood latches bc hood flutter is real and can be scary when your hood catches you off guard and goes BOOM. 👻...... lol Thanks for checking out the channels and Keep on Jeeping.

Great video - but how did you get the latch flush with the fender? Thanks.
@Jeeptv6 жыл бұрын
I was able to lower it flush by cutting the holes 🕳 a little bit bigger. It is kinda frustrating. But it all covers up.
@patrickmoore79136 жыл бұрын
Did you continue to use 3/8 drill bit or did you use something else? Thanks for the quick reply!
@Jeeptv6 жыл бұрын
I used the Uni-Bit to open the holes up to about 1/2 in. I had to drill and adjust multiple times.

Curious why not go with something metal or aluminum like the drake or rugged ridge? No drilling and isn’t going to fade.
@Jeeptv6 жыл бұрын
joker Not sure my man. Just thought it would be cool to do the JL Hood latch mod. I have installed many hood latch brands. I am not looking forward to them to fade though. That is gonna be a bummer 😢. That’s why God invented back to black. Lol 😆 Thanks for checking out my channel.

I would love to replace mine too! But drilling the holes and not rust proofing them after! Makes me cringe! Because thats where is going to start rusting. They look cool thought!✌😎👍

Thanks for checking out the channel. It can be quite nerve-racking to drill into a perfectly good Jeep. Definitely wanna make sure you go over those drill points with a clear/black or color match pin so it don’t rust.
@chrisb39763 жыл бұрын
Dremel the points off from the latch. No drilling necessary. Thats how other reviewers are doing it in their install videos.

What setup on the socket did you use to reach the 13mm nut?
@Jeeptv5 жыл бұрын
I used my small 3/8 ratchet from the top and got right behind it. Its a tight squeeze. @5:20 I do a quick split screen of my digging my hand behind the light backing the nut out the rest of the way with my fingers.
