The DOCK appears inside theVM is because of GNOME Desktop I choose to Install. I guess you have installed XFCE Desktop environment that could be a reason.

If you are facing network problem in Kalu linux then go to Virtual Box -> setting -> Networks -> Use Bridge Network instead of NAT Also if then also no network problem then open the terminal type 'ip-a' it will show all the ip address assigned if your eth0 not assigned the type ' sudo dhclient eth0' and the ping -c 8.8.8.8 also check you wired connections and select wired .
