I'm a "newbie" in a rental property, trying to improve the look of this place. Trying to pick out some edging and figuring out how to install it, has had me pretty overwhelmed. I am so glad that i found your videos!!!! They are excellent!

No problem! Hope it turns out well for you. Mine is still holding up really well after 2+ years.

I'll be installing a 10" wide edging to keep out neighbors Bermuda grass. I'm certain I will come across many roots and some quite thick. Should I just take a hack saw to the root? These are old roots to bushes already removed.
@HomegrownHowTo Жыл бұрын
Yeah if they are super thick that a garden spade wouldn’t cut- some tree limb loppers would work great if you have them. 10” should work great to keep out the Bermuda.

The plastic edging isn't anchored? What stops it from pushing up with frozen ground? I can't believe that stays put.
@HomegrownHowTo Жыл бұрын
No I don’t have it anchored. The soils from the garden bed and lawn sandwich the edging and keep in place really well. I’ve had it in place for over 3 years now and it’s held up really well.

Sounds like it’s better than the heavy duty plastic edging. I like it that you can mow right over your edging. You think the plastic type would work better?

This is definitely a great option. Mine is still holding strong about 4-5 years later

How deep, or what width, do you recommend?
@HomegrownHowTo Жыл бұрын
I used 5” wide, the 3” will likely not work as well.

What name product did you use? I have never seen anything like it. Do you run mower right over it?
@HomegrownHowTo2 жыл бұрын
It’s called Master Mark Terrace Board. I believe Virgo also makes on similar. I have a link to it in the video description. But I don’t run the mower over it as it can potentially cut it, but I mow super close and edge it every mow session.

Hello. What do you recommend for turning a 90 degree angle with landscape edging?
@HomegrownHowTo3 жыл бұрын
This plastic edging will probably be tough to make a 90degree angle without the plastic snapping. You can try heating it up to bend it as a thought… not sure it would work. Your best bet is to probably cut it and make the two pieces your 90d corner. Hope that gives an idea. Best.

No weed barrier before mulch ?
@HomegrownHowTo3 жыл бұрын
Nope- I’m not big on weed barrier. After a couple of years seeds that blow around will begin to germinate regardless of barrier or not. I’m also constantly planting things so having to cut through the barrier every time gets annoying. Definitely doesn’t hurt to have it though. Take care!

When you mow do you just rollover the top of edging, did you order the edging
@HomegrownHowTo2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’ve gone over it with the mower and it’s held up for about two years now. As long as it’s not sticking up high enough for you blade to hit it I think you’ll be golden.
@marbetu53943 жыл бұрын
hello, did you dig at an angle ? thanks (good video btw)
@HomegrownHowTo3 жыл бұрын
I tried to dig as straight down as possible but in some areas it was slightly angled. It didn’t make a difference. Good luck!

Why do they make it look like wood with that grain if its basically all underground?
@HomegrownHowTo3 жыл бұрын
I think the main purpose of the product is to be above ground. I’ve seen people use it that way and it just doesn’t hold shape and looks bad IMO.

Nearly missed this due to revulsion at previous advert cutting toenails. Ugh. Glad I survived that and kept looking.

Do you have to weed eat in this area or just mow over it? Great job btw - looks great!
@HomegrownHowTo2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes it’s important to trim around the edging- the grass can still start to grow over the edging and into the beds if your grass is a rhizomatic grass type.
