One of mine fell off, so, replacement trim or garnish is over $300. Is there a way to use silicon or another adhesive to put them back on? I am not spending over $300 for plastic.

@@bastiangarate3485 yeah, the shop put some sort of silicone on it. Use some tape until the silicone dries. I would guess there should be some at an auto parts store. Way cheaper than $300.

There are many auto parts stores that sell universal variety packs of door panel/ body clips. I would imagine you'll be able to find just the clips you need. I have an 8th gen maxima also. Driver side one is starting to come loose.

Hey did it work just noticed my right side is coming loose and cant find a replacement anywhere
@ymmij19732 жыл бұрын
@@devinguzman4624 I haven't went to the store to find any replacement clips but I used gasket sealant and basically attached it to the vehicle that way. The clips are unusually small. The problem isn't really the clips, the problem is the plastic piece that attaches to the trim breaks off from the trim. I used a hot glue gun to attach the clips to the trim and then used sealant and attached it to the body of the car

The clipse behind that molding are called retainer clips. Most are used once and upon removal of that molding for any reason occurs then you have to replace those retainer clips. Thats common on all cars.

@@veeshan2856 its actually holding up with no issues so far. I cant remember the exact brand but i got it from home depot, and it was rated for like 10 to 15lbs, and for being used outside. This garnish piece or whatever it is..is a poorly design piece of shlit and I won't ever buy another NIssan because of this. Mine got destroyed in a touchless car wash...and a new one from Nissan is like $189.00, which is robbery. Cheap piece of junk.

@dhubbard3135 жыл бұрын
Tbh it's nothing you can do to fix the clip. That's the main reason why this part breaks so easy. They use cheap clips to hold an expensive piece of plastic in place. Same bro. Happened 3 times on 2 different Maximas so far. I've complained to Nissan corporate. It just happened again yesterday. What I figured out is that it's basically unavoidable. Car wash, snow, etc. will get to this expensive piece of plastic at some point. I think some form of glue/adhesive would do some good (but that realistically would only work if yours had broken already because you'd have to apply it to the inner side obviously - would be a good idea to do this IF you had a replacement part...before you put it on). Smh.
@stylishgambino17814 жыл бұрын
Have the same problem I now have black tape on both sides we should collectively sue Nissan so they do a recall and do the necessary repairs the clips are cheap and they are gonna just break continuously no matter how many times it's replaced I suggest to just glu it down the first time it's replaced,the parts even though plastic is very expensive.

@dhubbard3134 жыл бұрын
@@schmoney2timez505 nothing lol. Take it to ur local dealer. They will fix it for free. Throw a fit if they don't! FYI, the replacement part will have a bigger rivet on the side of the trim closest to the trunk. Nissan changed the way this part is made a while back. I guess as a cheap means of fixing the issue. Depending on what year you have (2018 or older I'm guessing?), you'll notice they'll have to drill into the corresponding hole in the car's body in order to install the replacement trim. Because the original hole won't fit the one *new* rivet. It shouldn't take long with a simple drill bit. Let me know what happens bro...
