I like these life proof, they last a long time and show almost no wear after years of use. The ones he's using are great because there's no tapping on the left or right to connect the other end, which causes so much problems if you bend the edges. Vinyl flooring is all I will install, especially if you have pets...it's a must use.

This is the same concept as every other trade that has some "special knowledge" that generally makes no difference at all in the end product. Laying the floor is easy how you tackle stairs when you run into them is hard- no jnderlayment these have their own and if you use additional underpayment you will void the lifetime warranty.

@@joeyd7728 I've done hundreds of laminate floors and that step pattern shows terribly. I make sure none of my lines line up for at least 4 rows and I randomize it throughout the whole floor. No seams closer than 6 inches either.. I also pull from at least 4 boxes at a time to avoid any color patterning.

🤣probably not. It’s probably uneven. But if the customer paid for it. That’s on the customer for not putting an underpayment. Idc if the product has the thin part on the back that’s NOT an underlayment. The underlayment is for many purposes. Mainly for moisture protection and comfort under your feet and noise reduction. This will creek and crack sound with each step. And will probably need to be replaced again because it weakens the joints. If you get a good underlayment the floor doesn’t have to be perfectly level. Because the padding with give it a flatter surface to lay on and it’s cushioned with moisture protection. I’m not a professional by no means but I’m about to install some in my house in less than a week so I’ve been learning a ton before I even try.

The plank has a pre attached pad but it is not rated as a vapor barrier. You need a 6 mil vapor barrier when installing on concrete. It’s a floating floor with no adhesive meaning there is a thin air gap that will accumulate condensation when the concrete heats and cools throughout the year. The LVP won’t show it as it’s waterproof, but the attached pad will sog out, and if enough builds up it will work its way into the wall system. Where are people getting the idea that using a vapor barrier or additional underlayment pad voids the product warranty? Big box stores won’t even sell an install unless they can do so to the manufacturer’s guidelines to warranty the product and their work. This always specifies the use of a vapor barrier in the form of 6 mil poly or a combination underlayment pad with built in vapor barrier.

Only need an underlayment in a condo association just for sound absorption lifeproof makes there own underlayment. Always layed 6 mill plastic down regardless of moisture content ! Installed this per Home Depot installations guidelines. Lifeproof also makes a herringbone floor design flooring

It’s not for expansion. What they will do is put quarter on the base board everywhere to cover the gap. How they should have done it is taken off the baseboards and after the flooring is installed, you then reinstall the baseboards.

Never used a tapping block on lifeproof just a soft rubber mallet ! Tapping blocks damages the very edge of the flooring

Hey sorry to tell you that you couldn’t be more wrong about a tapping block on life proof. I install it everyday it is an exclusive product of Home Depot which I have the contract with them to install this product and all their vinyl floor products. They even sell a lifeproof box that contains a tapping block spacers pull bar and a specific rubber mallet made just for their life proof product. The red side is to use when tapping it in with the tapping block and the gray side is to tap down the drop lock short butt seam. Just a little 411 for you so you don’t misinform people out there.

Most flooring has Instructions to lay them by 3rd's or 4th's depending on the brands. Also they come with Square footage instructions about Whether or not they have dividers. As a contractor if the client Request it to be layed outside the instructions of the brand but I don't put a warranty that covers the floor if it comes undone. herringbone Is pattern is covered by warranty . As long as that you stagger the floor and they have over 6 inches of over lay the floor will hold. The Reason why you want to stagger the joint to create a better hold on the next floor piece.
