Same here, the reason i made this video was because someone in my comments made a lengthy paragraph about why I don't explain things and he is worried new users will have a bad experience under linux because of this. So here is another tutorial but for installing nvidia drivers under arch, every other distro is pretty easy to install drivers so its not that difficult for new users to understand how to do that

Hey bro loving all your videos, just curious what distro are you currently daily driving? I’m using popos but not sure if I should be using something else like fedora or arch?

I'm using endeavour os which is based on arch. idk depends on your hardware and your needs, if everything is available for you and there are no issues then i dont see why you would need to test a different distro unless you love testing new things like desktop environments or packages in general. Pop os will be releasing a new version 24.04 in late april probs, with their new cosmic desktop. so if you dont feel like you need to switch then just wait till then i would say I like arch because it gives me the aur and ease of updating with the yay aur helper and i get new packages like plasma 6 which now i can use wayland without issues

@@linuxnextI have an Amd 5800x with a 3080 so i have been having those wayland issues when i was on fedora, but since being on pop i have not had any issues, but i do like the idea of having more up to date packages like on fedora/arch

@bilzmalik1471 well endeavour os could be a good option, there is an nvidia option for drivers when booting on the usb, it uses x11 by default but you can install wayland on the desktop you use, for me i use plasma so i would install the kde wayland-session I have a video guide for endeavour os aswell One thing i forgot to do in that video was to create swap memory at install so if you need that remember to enable it so you have 20gb of swap There will be a couple of things missing aswell that i point out in the video like theming for flatpak isnt working properly because xdg-desktop-portal kde and gtk arent installed on endeavour os by default Endeavour os is pretty bare bones, almost as bare bones as arch but i would say the perfect amount of packages to get a system up and running. I use yay as my primary aur helper for updating and installing packages so if i need something i either use the terminal or pamac gui store So yay package, lists packages, pick number, installs said package Yay -R remove said package Yay, updates everything for you

Anyone have any idea on why( I installed it the exact same way as in video) when I install drivers pc gets stuck on reached target graphical interface and after a couple of secs goes to show just one underline and gets stuck. if anyone has idea on how to fix it, please help. im using rtx 3070ti and arch with gnome

install the drivers the regular way for arch sudo pacman -S nvidia-open-dkms nvidia-settings libxnvctrl lib32-nvidia-utils libvdpau opencl-nvidia lib32-opencl-nvidia egl-wayland cuda then look in the description for kernel parameters to use for the nvidia card

I recently moved to Linux on nvidia but as far as I can see nvidia does not work great... On the latest driver I have some performance (games are running way low fps that they does in windows) issues. I'm probably gonna move to an AMD card in the future.

@@linuxnext I'm using Linux Mint. I also have Ryzen 5 5600 CPU and using the nvidia driver 560. I just played one deathmatch game and game dipped below to 85-90FPS. The average is 115 FPS. I tracked the usages via mangoHUD but nothing was extraordinary and pretty much same with the windows 11. Game does not stutter unless I press ESC (menu). Just getting constant low FPS.

I know this might be annoying but id suggest moving to a newer distro like bazzite for example, wouldnt say mint is the best option for gaming, its LTS/slow updates for a reason bazzite.gg/

That is right yes, it will add all of the correct parameters and drivers for you Using yay or pacman to update is all that is necessary Im using paru which is the newer aur helper that is built in rust but both yay and paru do a good job You might have to switch to x11 after installing as wayland isnt ready for nvidia yet, you do this on the login page on the bottom left on kde plasma. But the 560 driver is arriving next month that will have wayland support so you wont have to wait long for things like multi monitor or vrr support etc

if you want the nvidia installer you need to add endeavour os repos in /etc/pacman.conf [endeavouros] SigLevel = PackageRequired Include = /etc/pacman.d/endeavouros-mirrorlist

@linuxbenchmarks me too, nvidia is just awful on linux, thank god I use amd on my rig but my friend has a laptop with nvidia, its kind of buggy, specially with wayland. NVK is looking good so far, there's some apps that run better with it
