For those having an error creating a new database connection in SQL Developper(Status failure test io error the network adapter could not established the connection connection ): 0- Make sure you have the right credentials. Normally, a program named SQL Plus should be installed along oracle express 21c. You can open it by pressing windows + type in SQL Plus. It looks like the command line (cmd) when you open it up. There, you can connect to your oracle express database, and it's a great way to know if your credentials are correct. I'm not sure if SQL Developper will tell you that your credentials are wrong, but SQLPlus surely will. 1- Make sure that Oracle RDEBMS kernel Executable is running in task manager (it should take a lot of ram). It runs by default when you open windows, after you installed oracle express. If it's not running, restart your computer. It might fix it, and I have no other way of getting it to boot (tell me if you know please). 2- Open the command line (or windows powershell) and type: lsnrctl start Wait a little for the connexion to happen. It should write a bunch of lines in the commande line saying it worked. If it didn't, again, make sure that oracle RDEBMS kernel Executable is running. 3- It could be a weird firewall settings on your pc. HR schema is not mandatory, this is just for practicing SQL queries, for anyone who is working on a database need to have sample data. Instead of creating tables, inserting data etc.. HR schema is a ready made sample database. That is why I suggested to execute HR SQL script Hope I gave clear information about HR Schema

It has been three months since I started trying to connect to database but none of the videos helped including this one. Unfortunately. It gives some errors while testing connection to DB. I have tried to resolve this issue by following other videos still could not solve it. I installed Windows 10 and reinstalled it. I tried it on Windows 7. I was able to Oracle DB developer VM and log on to database but I could not create users in that database. Searching the internet during 3 months several hours per week did not bring any positive results. Why does it have to so difficult?

I can understand your situation, some times a small mistakes will make our life hell. Ok, let's get into your issue In your case, I strongly recommend you to format your operating system and re install operating system,fresh copy , it can be either windows 11 or 10 Secondly, install the minimum pre requisite softwares on your machine Thirdly, install oracle 11g software Why do I recommend this for you is, It is a light weight software and does not take much of your system hardware resources and more over, for practicing SQL queries this is the best software Lastly install SQL developer software, which is a stand-alone software and then unlock HR and SCOTT users from the system admin If still the issue persists, get back to me Still I can help you Lastly, please don't loose your patience 🙏

I successfully executed all steps exactly as explained in the video (except that I replaced user "System" with another user name such as "selenium" and also that during the install process, I do not recall specifying password "hr" for "user "HR", but accepted "hr" as password when installing the HR schema. However, when I started executing the SQL script, I kept getting prompts for passwords, etc. which are not mentioned in the video. It may be noted that initially, I made the mistake of running the script with all SQL files without mentioning the ".sql" suffix and later rerun the script including all file names with the ".sql" suffix, and noticed that the same error messages appeared. Can you please help? Thx in advance.

I'm getting this error "Oracle Database Installation Completed with Errors. The wizard was interrupted before oracle database 21c express edition could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To Complete installation at another time, please run setup again." I tried running it again but getting same error all the time.

I finished installing SQL Developer after Oracle Dabatase Express Edition (I created an account), the listener is running. When I put the information after the installation (localhost, port and xepdb1) in a new connection and test it, it throws an error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection. I'm literally using the info the setup.exe showed me at the end.

Thanks, so insightful . May I ask, how do I run the hr. query on the sqlplus terminal. I tried using the HR(username) to log in but not connected.
