Our cabinets are 15 inch deep and the microwave is 15 as well. Do we need to use the spacer (in place of the mounting bracket) so that the door can open? We have a 3/4 inch filler piece as well, so we should shift everything down 3/4 of an inch? Great video, thank you!!!

Thanks for sharing! If you’re referring to the vent fitting, it’s installed before hanging it, then you connect your vent to the fitting after hanging it. Good luck!

Has anyone ever told you that you resemble the actor who played Namor in Wakanda Forever? Random i know lol Anyway, thanks so much for this!! I got a second hand microwave that was set up to vent through the ceiling but I need it to recirculate as i don't have any vents. I couldn't find anything that explained how to set it up to recirculate, not even the installation manual or LGs actual customer service. So grateful for this video..I now know that I need to get a cover plate for the fan as well as how to turn the fan the correct direction! Thank you thank you!

Great video. I have a question: my parents recently had a kitchenaid OTR microwave installed and it’s supposed to be vented through the roof. When I first used the exhaust fan I was surprised that air was strongly blowing through the top (just above the MW door), as if it was installed as a recirculating vent. Do you think it was installed incorrectly, i.e. not vented to the outside? Thanks in advance.

You did not mention that there must be a minimum clearance of 30 inches from the bottom edge that will touch the top of the microwave to the top of the cooking surface. Did you first check that measurement to ensure a safe installation?

My setup is a showroom kitchen on our floor. Everything in our room is up to standards and follows all protocols.

We have been told there should also be a minimum of 18 inches between bottom of microwave and top of stove top...have you heard this? The manufacturer of our old unit and of our new unit won't give us a clear answer. This info we found from our provincial building code..

What if your microwave height comes below the top edge of the backsplash?

You can either remove the backsplash tiles preventing the bracket from being mounted against the wall or mount the bracket over top of the backsplash by carefully drilling through it with the correct bit and still making sure you are still aligned with at least one studd or use appropriate anchors. If you mount it over top of the backsplash, you will need to make sure the holes drilled in the cabinet above for the mounting screws are bumped out the thickness of the backsplash by measuring from the wall to the front of the backsplash. Sorry for the late response. Hope this helps!
