Have been following your channel for sometime now. Excellent work. A request. I have 1st gen firestick. A couple of days ago the remote stopped working. Have changed the batteries etc. But no luck. Can't even find a replacement in Amazon or anywhere. Any ideas?.TIA

If you have any android or ios device paired to firestick to run as remote (via firetv app), you can use the same to de-list the amazon firetv remote. However it needs to be connected to same wifi (ie. your phone and firestick) Once done, you can then try and pair the amazon fire tv remote again, this should help. If your device is not paired as of now, then it is a long process to unplug the amazon fire-stick from the power and during so you need to press certain keys on the remote to have it unpaired (it is a hit and miss and may require multiple tries). Power on the firestick remote and pair the remote again by pressing the required keys (you can on internet how to pair amazon remote or on youtube). Have experience similar concern as I too have gen 1 firestick. Now I use my device as remote if in case the remote stops working, also the gen 1 remote is a heavy battery drainer even when unused. Kindly try the above methods, once done, if you haven’t paired your device to work as remote do it and use the same in future.

Also if you try calling amazon service rep, they might also end up saying it is a remote issue, however it is not an hardware issue but a software glitch in gen 1 remotes and firestick due to which the remote unpairs itself in backend if unused for a certain period of time or when the remote battery is dead and the remote is no longer able to communicate with the firestick for a certain period of time. There is no need of replacement, try and try again the steps I have mentioned in another comment and the same remote will work.

Have tried pressing some key combinations to no effect, left & menu keys etc. At the moment using the FireTV app. Works but it's very sluggish.
