great DIY upload, however it should be noted you don't have to use a specific kit to delete the intake muffler, any stainless or aluminium pipe can do the job... I've a R55 08 clubman & I've deleted both intake muffler & the cabin sound resonator pipe using stainless (universal intercooler) pipping & using universal silicone 90degree bend pipe. (best help for anyone to save £££/$$$ is to measure the turbo intake diameter & buy a tube with that internal diameter & the tube needs to be 20-25cm long bobs your uncle etc!) the cabin resonator is different as the diameter sizes change, so measuring the specific diameters for tubing & 90degree silicone joints is best prior to attempting any fitment. once all that's changed you can hear the turbo working pretty nicely (I've also fitted my own HKS intake filter!) I'd recommend fitting oil catch cans opening up the bonnet vent (I'm using mine to let heat out & to allow air to feed to the filter)

That's true, although there is added security with a pipe with ribs on each end to prevent hose from popping off. For the N14 cabin noisemaker, I just put a D-cell battery (SUM-1/単一) where the tube would go and remove the entire cabin noisemaker tube. :P

@@ModMINI aw yes I wouldn't suggest using a plain pipe (just cant remember the official name for the rib/bump etc at either end of the pipes etc) tis the reason I've mentioned universal intercooler pipes as they usually have this as standard etc. that's an idea using a battery but not a very healthy one, I originally used a small blanking tube to blank the air-flow (then removing the attachment towards the cabin beneath the air-filter housing etc) but then decided to remove it all, hence the custom work that side of the intake manifold (it is very very easy just abit picky due to the size differences between the sections, however readily available silicone reducer sections made everything easy to do) currently I'm knocking up a custom heat shield for the turbo & a carbon fibre bonnet snorkel, the heat shield is to help reduce the premature failures & possible damage to the rocker cover & gasket due to the turbo radiant heat

Thank you for your wisdom on the mini coopers s i think my trouble was the pipe from the thermostat to the water pump. I think somebody rig it not to leak with some gasket material.

So my local muffler shop cut an 8 inch long x 2 inch diameter tube and roll beaded it for 18 dollars ..... same thing right?

I just did my resonator delete but it had bands that had to be broken off. Had to smash the piping off the resonator

Great vid. You made that look easier and I like that better than changing out the whole pipe. I would think the metal might give you a better sound than the silicon. Does it sound better? Was does the muffler do...is it so you can here the turbine?

The reason for replacing is to reduce turbulence in the intake path. I think the intake was slightly louder but there was an improvement in throttle response. Silicone is great but for a few reasons I doubt there would be any performance benefit.

Just prefer to replace whole pipe with a Silicone. Really simple as well and probably cheaper than the delete.

I just got a JCW 3DR 2019 in a couple months ago. It has about 380 miles on it as I type. I'm thinking about installing the Dinan Elite. I have the the JCW performance exhaust. What do you think about Dinan Elite. I'm looking for more horsepower and tork. As you can see via my user avatar I'm a Porsche driver and not trying to compare speed but looking for a little more get up and go. I've wanted a JCW since I was a kid and finally custom ordered one. I have more fun driving it than my 930 slope and that's no joke! I love this JCW just looking to boost it up more without voiding the warranty. Is it possible to get closer to 300hp without the void?

I've only ever replaced OEM. Just kind of risk for such a part. Check with dealer though, they have extended warranty in some countries.

Technical question here, I have an R50 mini 10 years ago,secondary car and now project car I’m rebuilding the rear calipers I have everything done except for the piston dust cover, The piston dust cover was destroyed on both of them. the piston has two grooves One of them has a little hole. On which of the piston grooves the rubber dust cover sits? Over the one at the end facing the brake pad, or the one with the little hole in it? I can’t find a clear picture,video or info about it, Thank you in advance for any help.

To no longer muffle noise . Lol. Seriously. It is slightly more throaty sound with pipe removed, and throttle is a bit more responsive. Just a little, but this is cheap and easy to do.

Is there a round gasket that goes on the inner pipe housing where the water pump goes.The pump came with a gasket that fit around the water pump.When I took the old water pump off a round gasket came with the water pump.

The gasket for the water pump is for the water pump to block inlet. Look closely at your old pump for seal location.

What is inside the OEM muffler? Why not just push a big hole saw through it?

It is a perforated tube surrounded by an air cavity. Putting a saw through it would do nothing.

@@michaelbarber5651 its a muffler (silencer for the intake/turbo) overall its to reduce the sound of the engine/intake system, mix this with the sound maker pipe directly into the cabin & you get to see why.. when you delete both you get a more classic "engine note" especially if you've a induction kit & nice exhaust, rather then a quiet soundless hair-dryer. Can you hear the turbo spooling etc YES wastegate chatter alittle bit if your driving heavy footed/having fun. general induction sound yes "I'm using a Ramair filter with a DIY set-up carbon fibre vent & carbon fibre induction shielding, with silicone hoses & stainless tubing" NOTE! you don't need to buy a specific kit to delete the muffler a length of stainless intercooler pipe if memory serves me correctly 200-250mm (20-25cm) in length I think it was 2" or 2.5" diameter (simply pop the pipe off the turbo-intercooler side & measure & that's the diameter your after) Total costing is about £15 total (including clips) rather then a branded version what £25-35+ (double that for dollars etc)

Watches are tech now and it will be worthless by the time I upgrade and it's actually pretty scratch resistant anyway
