Great video! My 2003 Envoy had the same issues. I was able to find the part. After watching video, I was able to change it myself! Local repair shop told me it would be about $700 because they had to pull dash out, so here I went searching on the internet. It's been 2 years now and still running strong!

If you have lost some of the lower heat settings, it may be the blower motor resistor.

Thank you for making this video. My 06' Trailblazer's blower decided to quit yesterday during the polar vortex. Took a chance on this being the culprit and indeed it was. Be sure to check the wiring on the new Transistor as the one I purchased was manufactured with the cords too short. We spliced them with the old one & installed it. Back to keeping me warm!

Thank you gosh, everyone was saying AC compressor. Hubby refused to believe, that is when we found your helpful video. Coldest setting never worked then put of no where AC/Heat went down, just like we read in the comment below. Hubby switched out resistor and viola we have all AC/Heat. Thank you

Thank you - super helpful. Chevy TB Ext 04 - Rear AC did not work when I purchased truck and lost speed 5 about 3 months ago - then lost all speeds - used your video and got to resistor and it was melted together with 7 wire harness. Purchased a 7 wire harness pigtail and spliced to new resistor - extra butt connectors were needed - all 5 speeds working and rear ac working now too! Can't thank you enough!

Thank you! for this video. My 2005 Trailblazer has the manual switch and the part is slightly different but the process is the same for replacement. My air was not working at all on any speeds. I removed the resistor and one end wire was melted. The wiring harness was also either melted or fused to the old resistor and would not separate so I cut each wire one by one and crimped them to a new harness with the supplied connectors. After replacing the resistor and wiring harness, my air now works perfectly on all speeds. Your video is the best one on KZbin for replacing these parts. I especially appreciated you providing the socket sizes to use..that was a time saver and made the repair even easier. 5 Stars *****

You may want to check the AC compressor to see if it's kicking off and on when the AC is on in the Truck. If it is it could be low on refrigerant. Hope this helps you out.

You only have one blower motor resistor. That may be the culprit, but I can't say for certain that it is. Usually when they go bad you loose the lower speeds, maybe on your the higher speed decided to fail. With electrical stuff anything's possible.

My son has a 2006 Trailblazer LS. The fan motor stopped while on fan speed 5. The blower motor proved good. Thanks to the video, we found both the resistor and the wiring harness plug overheated. We replaced both parts. Now, the fan runs at a full fan speed 5, regardless of speed settings at switch and will not shut off when ignition is off! Seems to be a process of elimination to reward my son with warmth in this cold season. Please send Good News that there is a cure after all with this vehicle!

it sounds as if you might have a few different issues. It could be a mixture of a bad blower motor and also possibly some bad actuators inside the HVAC system. You will want to bring this in to a local shop for a full diagnoses.

You might have two different issues going on here. Usually when you start to loose the speed settings it's the blower motor resistor that needs to be replaced. If the vent is stuck on defrost there might be a broke, loose or disconnected vacuum line around the firewall or on the motor, you may also want to check under the dash too. It could also be a bad actuator in the system. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I am having a hard time understanding this. All the air settings work up to 4 (out of 5) so thats 1,2,3,4. But as soon as I turn it to 5 the air stops coming threw. Now your saying that if its a bad "Blower Motor Resistor" I would lose the lower power settings i.e, 1-3ish. But because im losing the higher power settings its not the "Blower Motor Resistor" but a completely different resistor instead?

My mom has 2004 Trailblazer and the heat has stopped working. She has no heat or defosters. Could the problem be same part you replaced in this video? She does not have the digital thermostat like in the video.

It could be, you may also want to check the fuses and see if there's power going to the switch and also to the blower motor and the resister, if everything checks out okay. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I Have a 2006 trailblazer with the a/c speed control not working on the highest setting. It works on all the lower settings, just not the 5th speed. The heater also doesn't work on this speed as well, but it does on all the others. What could be the cause of this?

I have a 2007 Trailblazer. Blower works on #2 and #5. Would this be the correct part to replace and fix?

+Anne Poveromo It may be. Usually when the blower motor resistor goes you'll start to loose the fan speeds. Here's a link to the replacement part shown in this video if any of our viewers needs to make this repair. www.1aauto.com/1A/HeatingandACControls/Chevy/Trailblazer/1AACD00001?KZbin&CTA%20Comment&ATony

I have a 95 Chevy S 10 and my fans for my A/C went out. I can feel it make cold air but I have no fans and the blower doesn't start. What could be causing that. A/C is a must in the louisiana heat.

I own a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer. When I turn the dial past 3 on the heater/ac it cuts out, does that indicate my resistor is out and needs replacing or is it another problem?

Anyone know what to do if the resistor is discontinued? My 2002 trailblazer auto climate blower resistor is no longer available. Is there a way to by pass it?

I am going to replace this part myself because only speed 5 works right now and its getting cold!! lol. S thanks for the video on how to. But my secondary issue is that when I turn the speed dial on the engine in my trailblazer seems to die a bit, some times worse than other times. Could the blower resistor malfunction cause that at well? It doesn't do it when I use anything else electrical. Thanks in advance for your input.

It's actually totally normal to hear your engine sort of die down a bit. It's because there's a load put on the engine to help power those accessories. If it's very dramatic, it could indicate that the alternator is dying out. But it's common to experience that in most vehicles. Hope this helps. 1aauto.com?KZbin&CTA%20Comment&ATony 866-403-3393

Thank you and yes its quite drastic and I was thinking alternator. A garage said they determined the alternator was fine but I am not so sure they knew what they were talking about, lol. Thank you for the advice. I will replace this part first to take care of my one-speed heat and go from there. Thanks again.

A lot of times when you start to loose the speed settings your blower motor resistor might have gone bad. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
