How to INSTALL Secaine Android Head Unit into your CAR! (Focus ST Mk2)

Today we are installing the Seicane Android Head Unit to the FORD FOCUS ST225 MK2. Although I am fitting this to the MK2 ST, the same applies to the standard variant of car.

few things to add to this for you. the GPS unit ideally needs to be up by the window (to get a clear line og sight), and if you noticed there was RCA plugs on the ford connector (called Quadlock) if you plug in the other harness (with the video and audio in/out) then these go into here and will re activate the factory AUX port in the glovebox. Finally those USB cables, yes plug BOTH in, these are USB TYPE-A, for your phone all you need is a USB-A to USB-C cable and you are golden to use your phone in this manner. it should also be noted that these units also have DAB+. You just need a USB DAB+ adaptor for the Seicane unit that goes into one of the two supplied USB ports. Hope this helps :) - for what these are, they are the only ones ive seen that truly come close to a factory look and fitting. (the steering wheel controls work also through the same quadlock plug) - For a chinese android unit, these are on the higher end of the scale. And finally, OBD is supported you need either a wifi one or the suggested seicane one and then you can fire up Dashcommand or Torque Pro + Racing Meter Plugin (I think you'll like Racing Meter for torque pro, I had this one on my mk1 - Rally RPM guages and shift light anyone?)

I just installed mine. Works really well. I will say that I wasted about 2 hours trying to connect it up with the reverse light wires running in my boot. It didn't work. BUT.... If you wire it directly to the wires behind the reverse light it works perfectly. I don't know what the problem was. I think there is a breaker between the cables in the boot and the light that messed about with it. Just keep that in mind if you run into trouble

So I have a question first time replacing my unit. To one of these it come today and wanting t on install soon as. But I have seen on the first plug you attached there is two writes that are not connected they are labelled key1 key2. Any one know if these should be like that or do they need connecting to other wires thanks

Got this unit myself for my focus, I’ve just had an engine change so battery and everything’s been disconnected for about 2 months. The head unit that was already in it wouldn’t turn on once the new engine was in and everything was back together, trying to put the new head unit in and still not powering on, any ideas? Thanks

Great video, I connected it all up and made sure it powered up and worked, and was quite impressed, then tried to fix it in and it simply will not fit the facia just seems to be very slightly too big and it will not clip in place, and this was the only bit not in your video 😀, has anybody else had the same problem ?

Such a shame because it actually sounds quite good, but it looks as if I have to get the dremmel out and start cutting it about to make the facia fit. What did you do to get yours to fit

Well, when I first lined it all up it fitted perfect! Then I took it out to fiddle with it for one reason or another and then it wouldn’t go back in 100%... I’ve just left it as it is at the moment as I do not wanna be adapting the car just for it to fit a little better

It can do DAB radio but you have to buy the aerial separately to use it. Normally the places that sell these let you choose all the extras to add on when buying it like DAB aerial, Rearview camera etc.

Ive been confused due to having a mk2.5 Focus its got different fittings, i have a 2008 Sony stereo from a Fiesta and then realised i cant fit it in my console lol my focus stereo screws in my Fiesta stereo pops in lol ffs now im thinking can i convert the lock to a screw in??? im researching it before i try and do it in case i then dont have stereo for the next few days trying to get the code on my old unit to work coz i dont have it you gotta have sounds in the motor its a must lol

Hi mate. about to start an installation on my Smax how did the GPS antenna work out in the end? I'm dreading having to feed it along A pillars and roof lining etc. same as the mic. did you have to do anything with a mic?

I have this stereo in my Ford F-150. So far I've left the GPS receiver tucked on top of the unit and buried in the dash. Seems to work okay though I realize maybe not ideal. as for the mic, mine has a mic built in so I didn't bother connecting an external one.

Considered one of these way back when I got my ST a while ago. Went for an Xtrrons unit instead but these look decent enough. I find these Chinese headunits start getting buggy and crashing after you use them for a while. (my Xtrons plays up too sometimes). Good simple video how to install though, I've watched a few when I did mine and some people waffle on and cut key bits out.

It’s true.. I’ve got the same one, had it for 2 years now, the mic is all fuzzy and the Bluetooth just decided to mess up 😕 .. has a mind of its own, it’s not searchable most of the times.. really disappointed tbh

Hello friend, I just bought such a multimedia system and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Question please, I saw in the video that you are holding two cables with a USB connection and you said that it is possible to connect them to sockets number 6 and 4. Is there a difference between the cables and the sockets? Are they designed for charging a phone or a disk on key? I would love an explanation before my assembly.

you just need to plug it in, it will detect it automatically. you just need to set it up with the preinstalled app on the radio

Looking to fit to ford Cmax. Does it require canbus box? If not where do key control wires plug in to enable SWC? Any help on this would be great or if you can confirm factory SWC colour and pin numbers to allow me to link as I have my partners andoid unit to put in her Ford Cmax. On hers I have 3 wires on white plug in quadlock. Brown/white. Purple/white and grey/white, but not sure which wires i need to attach grnd. Key1 and or key2 to get SWC to work. Cheers David

Hi mate, it doesn't need a canbus for that unit but I know some do... And the SWC were all set up via an app that came on the head unit so didn't have to do any additional wiring at all

Cheers m8. Think the power adapter on yours had SWC block with wiring which plugged into factory quadlock. Looked at photo of power connector on Seicane site. My android head unit has screen to programme function for SWC but my lead was just straight wires with Key1. Key 2 so hoped to find out which wires I connect to cars SWC white block in quadlock. @@davemac9514 yep SWC Key1 is embedded into the quadlock, will work right out the box. if you hook up the RCA's on the qualock to AUX in on the back of the unit it will also retain the factory Aux port too if you have one.

How is the sound quality and volume of that unit? Better than the factory Sony radio mounted on the mk2.5?

Sound quality will be roughly the same as you aren't changing the speakers. Unless you do that... There is an equaliser on the unit though which helps to bring out all the different frequencies so it is better!

@@ModifiedCentral I still have the stock speakers and I'm very pleased with them... and with the Sony radio (the stock red one) on my mk2.5 the sound quality is great, under my parameters of course and i have to admit that im very demanding about it... have you try to use the any carplay dongle to have the apple carplay?

Yeah the stock ones aren't too bad at all!! I haven't yet no. Purely because you can literally download the apps onto the head unit so I haven't bothered buying the dongle
